ThunderCats Season 1 Volume 1 Box Set Question

I’m planning to take advantage of Best Buy’s sale tomorrow to pick up the ThunderCats DVDs. On Amazon people are complaining about one of the episodes in season one volume one box set missing all the music in the english audio tack. They had to call WB and request a replacement disc. Does anyone know if this issue has been resolved?

They’ve also been complaining about poor quality audio/video on these DVDs on amazon. What do all of you think of the DVDs?

And incidentally, I’m an old skool thundercats fan, I watched the show back in the 80s when it originally aired. Yes, I’m an 80s kid and proud of it! Although my favourite cartoon was the Transformers hands down, I thoroughly enjoyed ThunderCats as well.

Yes, I believe replacement discs were mailed out. I also heard that for these reduced priced sets WB changed the packaging slightly so your almost certain that these sets on sale just came off the production line very recently. So therefore I would assume that the volume 1 set will indeed contain the corrected disc 1.

As for the video/audio quality I can’t comment seeing as I don’t own any of the region 1 season 1 sets. The only region 1 set I do own is Season 2, Volume 1. I will say the quality on S2V1 isn’t too bad and is a damn site better than having the episodes on VHS.

Right now I’m waiting on the season one boxsets to come out over here in the UK. Season 1, Volume 1 is due in January

Oh and welcome to the forum!

Chris here…

A big “Welcome to the Boards” from me as well, Snarf - it’s always great to welcome new posters to these forums, and even cooler when I get chance to say something like “Welcome, Snarf!”

Re: the audio and video quality of the region 1 sets - the episodes haven’t been remastered and when I watch them on my PC’s DVD software there are moments where I can tell, with the occasional sequence of “joggy” picture or speck of dust that you’ll notice if you freeze frame and move forward frame-by-frame, etc. However, if I just watch the episodes on a regular TV-and-DVD player set-up, with no freeze-framing and moving forward frame by frame, etc., I would say that for overall picture and sound quality these are still the best representations of ThunderCats episodes that I’ve ever seen - in certain scenes on certain episodes I can actually make out individual brush strokes where the character cels were painted!

I completely respect the views of those who have gripes with the picture quality of these ThunderCats DVDs, and agree that there are ways it could have been improved - but, I would say that I am a quality obsessive and I am more than happy with the picture quality on my TCats DVDs!

Take care…

hey snarf welcome to the boards
the only problems i found so far was that one ep was missing the music which is unholy alliance, and a couple of missing title cards in the first set, otherwise other then the specials being mediocre the episodes themselves have gotton better quality with each set in my opinion as they are released. i havent seen the last one yet but i will probably for xmas i hope

I hope somebody can answer this for me. For the reissued Region 1 Season 1 Volume 1 set (with the proper music in Unholy Alliance), did they fix the glitch in Exodus and add the various missing title cards? I guess since the Region 2 sets are made using different (PAL) transfers none of these errors are present in that set.

Also I read that the separate replacement disc 1 which they mailout, has the proper music in Unholly Alliance, but what about the glitch in Exodus, was that fixed in that disc as well.

I have seen the scans of the regular covers at Purrsia’s site, but does anyone here have scans/links to the various holographic covers. Thanks

I know my issue was having the holographic covers scan well, which is why I didn’t post 'em. Hopefully, someone online knew how to get around that

As for the disc errors, I never sent in for my replace so I can’t answer that one for you. Sorry.

I haven’t actually bought any of the DVD sets yet so I was wondering that if I go and order some of them from Amazon this week are they going to be with corrected discs by now or what’s the deal? :liono
