Thundercats Season 1 DVD set giveaway?

Guys I still have the Thundercats Season 1 boxset, which has been here way too long. Can we please come up with some quick competition so I don’t have it hanging around my house any longer!

I have little space for stuff as it is!

I asked about this a while back I think, but nothing ever came of it.

Chris here…

On the UK DVDs subject, I also got some info about UK DVD releases, which it would be good to get an official comment on: http://www.thundercatslair.org/forums/showthread.php?p=21848#post21848 - it seems like MannyF’s contact at WHV UK dried up, which is a shame for the site. :frowning:

But I agree, a giveaway would be good, especially if they’re cluttering up your house Neil - maybe we could put a spin on it by saying that we’re doing it now as we come up to the site’s 3rd Anniversary - what do you guys think?

Take care…

I like the sound of that! I didn’t realise this site is nearly 3 years old! Where has the time gone?

By the way, I should be around quite a bit more now. It’s a long story!

So hopefully that will mean me doing a few small bits to the toy section of the site!
Merged Post:

I don’t think having a boxset donated to us and then hanging onto it for so long did us any favours. Perhaps WB kept an eye on the site looking out for our ‘DVD set giveaway’!

I think this needs doing asap I think, we have waited on it way too long! :frowning:

Sam hasn’t gone away, but since all the DVDs are released in the UK, there really isn’t a reason for me to speak to him much. He only deals with the DVD stuff and nothing else. He never said he would donate more than one set.

As for the UK DVD set, you guys can figure out what you want to do with it. I’m in the US and to be honest, it only really affects those living in the UK.

When we gave away the US region 1 set everyone was involved.

and seeing as you were the one that arranged for us to get a free set, I thought you would want to be involved with the process of giving it away

But if that’s how you feel, then we might as well just raffle it off to those interested. Perhaps set a question to do with a recent podcast? It might get folks listening to find the answer?

Pretty awesome idea Neil..

Chris here…

OK, first of all can I preface this post with a bit of a “disclaimer”, if you will, in that I’m not that long back from a long evening (guess what? Yep, you guessed - playing music, LOL!) and so this post is probably not going to come over as well as it could - however…

Now, I realise I’m going to come over as a bit of a jerk here, but…I can’t really see what your country of origin has to do with providing news about ThunderCats DVD releases? I promise I’m not trying to criticise, attack, or cause any sort of problem, but I would have said the reason for you to speak to Sam is because you were talking to him a year ago and in the process getting exclusive firsthand news about the UK DVD releases, that we were posting on the front page and in the forums and getting the exclusive skinny on before anybody else: http://www.thundercatslair.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2474

Now, in fairness, one could make the point that if Sam wants/wanted to use this site as a means of publicising the DVDs, then it’s as much up to him to contact us - but, nonetheless, there are several ThunderCats DVDs available here in the UK that I for one knew nothing about, including a complete season 2 release and a boxed set featuring the entire ThunderCats series (all 130 episodes)! It would have been awesome if we could have been the first site to report this, or at least give detailed info as to whether these releases have any special features (such as the exclusive comic pack-in from the last set) or not. Also, fans are commenting about the fact that the UK release of Season 2 Volume 2 has no interactive game on it, despite the fact that the box states it does - again, this would have been the perfect thing to have asked Sam about. Unfortunately, none of the rest of us would be likely or able to contact him, because you (and, quite rightly and understandably, only you) were the one who had his contact info, and you were his contact at this site!

Again, I apologise if I come off like a jerk, but felt this point needed addressing. Although to be honest it’s unlikely that there will be any future ThunderCats DVD releases in the UK, perhaps for the future it would be worth you passing Sam’s contact details over to Mark in his new role as co-Site Leader?

I don’t think anybody said anything to the contrary, did they? I said it seemed like our contact with Sam had dried up, based on the fact that there have been ThunderCats DVD releases in the UK that we’ve received no word on (such as the two I mention above) - I agree, there was never any mention that he’d be donating more than just one DVD set of the complete season 1, which is what Neil’s talking about currently having in his possession.

I think Neil’s suggestion about this is probably the best one - with our 3rd anniversary coming up in December (and yep, it has been 3 years - this site launched early December 2005!), the run up to that would be the perfect time, and if it could be tied in with a ThunderCast episode, all the better!

Take care…

Mark is co-site leader?? :o

and once again! :o

To quote Mumm-Ra: I better get into this game myself

Chris here…

LOL, you have some catching up to do my friend! http://www.thundercatslair.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2951&page=4

You also have a reply to your PM - will be in touch again very soon!

Take care…

Seems I do…

When Mark pm’ed me about my input on stuff, I didn’t realise things had got so serious! :frowning: Well I’m back now

Sorry didn’t mean to sound nasty. :frowning:

The podcast idea sounds cool.

Chris here…

You didn’t sound nasty to me, my friend, I just found your comments slightly…puzzling? Anyway, no worries…

 That’s another vote in favour - sounds like a plan!

Take care…

Hey guys, I’m happy to be the contact point with the DVD guy if thats what you want. But if somebody in the UK is more interested that would be fine by me also. Not sure it would be as easy for me given the time difference and cost of placing phone calls, but if we think there is value in staying aware of DVD releases and nobody else wants to maintain the contact then I’m happy to.

Hey Neil, great to hear you’ll be able to be around more. Hope everything is cool for you on the home front.

Chris here…

Apologies for the delay in replying to this - only just realised that I haven’t…

Well, if someone likes to fire Sam’s contact e-mail address at me, I’m quite happy to be the contact point for him. The only reason I suggested you, Mark, as co-Site Leader, is because I thought Sam might not want his e-mail address bandied about between this site’s team members too much, but if you’ve taken over aspects of the site leadership role then it would be logical for you to be the one to take over from MannyF - but, like I say, I’m very happy to take charge of communicating with him if everyone would like.

Take care…

Okay cool Chris, he’s your contact then going forward. Thanks for taking this on.

Manny, could you let Sam know that going forward Chris will be representing the site?

Chris here…

And, perhaps you could also let me have a note of Sam’s e-mail as well?

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Mark - I doubt there will be need to contact Sam much now, as I can’t really forsee any more ThunderCats DVD releases here in the UK, but there are a couple that have been released (a complete season 2 set, and a complete, all-130 episodes set) that it would be good to get an official word on, i.e. whether they contain any special features unique to those sets, etc.

Take care…

Chris here…

Hey gang, sorry if it looks like I’ve got the “thread bumping bug”, LOL! I was just wondering if any further plans had been made about this, and also whether it would be possible for me to have a note of Sam’s e-mail?

Also, it seems like Neil has disappeared again - if you read this, my friend, I hope everything is OK.

Take care…

I’m ok. Just busy with work again as I’m back at my old job. Sorry I will have trouble commiting to the site again I’m afraid :frowning:
