In the past few days, I’ve seen several short films that were entirely A.I.-generated, merely guided by human creators. Some aimed for a cartoon aesthetic, others were practically indistinguishable from reality. Though these particular methods might not be suited to transforming the old ThunderCats cartoon with lifelike visuals, the general capabilities seem to be there today.
Here’s an explanatory video by just one of the movie-making groups I’ve seen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reFzEtCG_m8
Personally, I find it unsettling how increasingly difficult it has become to distinguish A.I.-generated faces from those of real actors. However, for something like reinvigorating existing content like the original ThunderCats cartoon, I think this would be a great thing – and one that will soon bring professional capabilities cheaply to the layman.
