Thundercats old vs. new abbreviations?

Okay, I know I might be jumping the gun just a bit, but has anyone considered how we’re going to refer to the old series vs. the new? As a Trekkie I remember how all the shows have their own abbreviation… TOS = The Original Series, TNG = The Next Generation, DS9 = Deep Space Nine. (Anyone remember back on USEnet the wars over DSN vs. DS9??)

Anyway, any suggestions on the old series vs. the new series? I suppose OS or NS would work (Old Series, New Series), though it doesn’t seem to feel right. OMT or NMT (Old Millennium TCats vs. New Millennium TCats)? Any other suggestions?

I don’t know if abbreviations would be ideal, but just like the revamped MOTU series is easily referred by the year it was originally aired i.e. MOTU 2002, I would say ThunderCats 2011 would be the most easiest approach to distinguish it from the original series.

ThunderCats Classsic or ThunderCats Original, shorter version being TCats Classic.

vs

ThunderCats 2011 and TCats 2011.

I just say in my posts Thundercats 80’s or just ‘80’s’ and will likely say ‘2011’ for the new series.

I am just sticking to calling the original Thundercats and the updated version the new Thundercats.

It’ll possibly get the MOTU treatment and be referred to as the 201x series.

Maybe by the property owner names - (old = RBTC, new = WBTC)

Or this new one would be 4CTC (4C Thundercats).

4CTC or WBTC both sound good to me for the new show.

Well, among fans of “Masters of the Universe”, they/we/I (yeah, I consider myself one, so I can’t talk about “Masters of the universe fans” and exclude myself), refer to the original series produced by Filmation as “vintage”, and the Cartoon Network one as “200x”… so the same could be done with ThunderCats… Vintage and 2011.

NTC= New Thundercats or new thundercats cartoon

I’m going to make a push for WBTC (Warner Bros. Thundercats) and RBTC (Rankin Bass Thundercats) as I think that makes the clearest distinction between the two (201x just looks, it looks weird to me).

Ya know… I kinda like that. Rolls off the tongue well, and pretty easy to type. Hold shift with your right hand and all the letters are easily mashed with the left. This is a winner for me.

OTC was my thought as well. NTC isn’t bad, either.
