A friend of mine claims that a few years ago when there was a Thundercats comic from Wildstorm and a Masters of the Universe comic from MVC that there were plans for a crossover.
I think it would be feasible. Lion-O and He-Man teaming up to fight Skeletor and Mumm-Ra isn’t hard to imagine. Cheetara, Teela, Man-At-Arms and Panthro battling against Beast Man, Monkian, Slithe and Mer-Man. It seems a perfect match of properties.
So was there any talk or is my friend just dreaming?
I had a picture that I found on the web that some cartoon artist did, that Thundercats met He-Man, but in the picture Lion-O was fighting against He-Man and not together…
IIRC, that piece was published in an issue of Wizard World magazine some years ago now - it was drawn by Ed McGuinness, who would subsequently go on to become the main artist for DC/Wildstorm’s first ThunderCats comic mini-series!
You know, this is one of those things that irritates me no end, having two superheroes square off just to see “who’s better”. Lion-O and He-Man are evenly matched, but both are good guys who play on the same team. Having superheroes throw themselves into a brawl against each another is one of the things Marvel Comics is famous for. They’d occasionally do one of these special issues where every superhero and superheroine in the Mavel Universe come together to have one great big free-for-all. I have never understood this. Why have the good guys fight each other? It’s the baddies they’re supposed to be fighting!

You could host it if you’d like Chris, he is published, guy by the name of Brad Green. He’s not done any of the major labels, but did some pinups for Penny Farthing.
I always felt that a He-man/T-Cats crossover would have been awesome. Both properties have a lot of similarities, and I even often played with my toys from both properties together as a kid.
Ironically, while this particular crossover has never happened, both MOTU and T-Cats have each crossed over with Superman at some point in time or another. So, they at least have a 6-degrees-of-Kevin-Bacon thing going on!
I do like the reaction that a friend of mine had to the idea of this crossover once before… “I don’t know about that… too many swords that do special things!”
You know what would be cool, though… even cooler (IMO) than a crossover in which the characters meet each other? I think doing a merging of the characters (ala DC & Marvel’s Amalgam comics, in which characters from each universe are merged to create new characters i.e. Batman + Wolverine = Dark Claw). Now THAT would be interesting.
I always thought this would be a great crossover, and there’s some great art out there. I discovered these whilst surfing Deviant Art and thought they were pretty good (especially the arm wrestling…):
I would’ve loved to see this crossover!!! The first thing that pops into my mind is that Beastman has control over animals and how that would effect the Thundercats! :shocked:
The two drawings are funny, especially the one of Tygra and the Sorceress of Castle Grayskull! Ah, love! I can’t quite see Lion-O and He-Man armwrestling for money; you would think they’d be above that sort of thing. But they can armwrestle for something else, maybe their Swords, the Eye of Thundera, or something different.:bengali:
No, there could never have been a cross-over because the two cartoons were made by different companies: “He-Man” by Filmation and “ThunderCats” by Rankin-Bass. But no fan-fic writer worth his or her salt would pass up a chance to write a story about He-Man finding himself on Third Earth or the Cats somehow ending up on Eternia. Heck, it’s probably already been done!:cheetaraveryhappy:
