ThunderCats Lair will be having a customs contest with prizes for the winners!!! Please take time to review the rules below:

Any registered member of the ThunderCats Lair Forums can enter. You cannot enter somebody else’s work for them if they’re not a member. You should sign-up in this thread if you’re interested. Not signing up does not prohibit you from entering, likewise, signing up but failing to produce an entry will not result in any kind of penalty.

Entries must be ThunderCats-centric and your own work. Your submission can be (1) an existing character/thing from any incarnation of ThunderCats, no matter how obscure (comics, movies, cartoons, video games, whatever) or (2) you can create your own variant of an EXISTING character/thing (no original characters allowed). For example, you could invent the variants “Snow Cape Lion-O” or “Renaissance Lion-O”, but you cannot create a completely new character. If you’re not sure whether your idea would be okay or not, ask me or any of the mods first. While this is called a “figure” contest, ThunderCats vehicles/playsets/accessories are also acceptable things to make. A single entry may consist of more than one figure, if you feel it’s appropriate . Modifications/Recombinations/Repaints of existing toys and/or sculpts from scratch are both acceptable formats for your figure(s). I’ll even accept something more exotic like Legos/Megablocks or even plushies.

Your entry should be made specifically for this contest–I don’t want to see something you made two months, or years, ago, and I definitely don’t want to see the same thing you submitted in other places, remember that this must be something fresh. That said, I will allow the entry of any custom figures you are currently working on that are not finished, but not pieces that you’ve completed prior to my announcement of this contest on February 3, 2008.

Two entries maximum per individual (again, a single entry can consist of more than one figure if you feel it’s appropriate). Entries must be in the form of JPG/GIF/PNG (preferably JPG) and no larger than 600 pixels wide x 800 pixels tall. I reserve the right to edit image dimensions/file type, if necessary, for the voting thread. One image per entry, but you can put multiple smaller pictures within that one image if you so desire (i.e., a collage/montage of photos). I will consider allowing a different format if you have a good reason for desiring to do so. You may also place a text link on your image that will direct people to a webpage/photo album/forum thread dedicated to your creation, if applicable (or, alternatively, I can place an actual working link, underneath your image, in the voting thread, if you prefer).

No anonymous/secret entries as that can cause resentment with participants. I’m going to assume everyone here is mature enough to vote on entries based on their creativeness/quality/workmanship, rather than for the feelings you have for the person who made it (which is the reason anonymous entries are usually done on forums like this: to prevent favoritism). In other words, you can tell/show anybody and everybody what you’re making prior to voting without penalty. You can post your entry in this thread (which I would prefer, so that the toy forum doesn’t get clogged up with a bunch of contest-related threads) and/or email/PM it to me (I’m not online everyday, so don’t freak out if it takes me awhile to reply). I have a Photobucket account, which is what I’ll be using to post the photos in the voting thread. Basically when you are ready to submit your creation or custom please submit working pictures as well as finalized. Do not post them on the thread because I i wll be the one submititng the different pictures so as to not place a specific custom to a specific name on the forums. This will give everybody a fair chance at voting and will not skew the voting to someone you like but rather on the creativeness of the custom

As it stands right now this is a combined effort between 3 websites: www.ThunderCatsLair.org, www.toysandtoons.com and Andrew’s website for his upcoming cartoon Redneck Space Track (www.redneckspacetrack.com).
ThunderCats Lair will be donating items for this giveaway and Andrew will be donating a Minis Weapons pack as well as a print from his upcoming cartoon. -
Winner(s) will be determined via a poll here after the deadline expires with any and all ThunderCats Lair Forums members eligible to vote. Maybe we could have multiple categories/honorable mentions if there are enough entries (most original/creative, best paint, entry you’d most likely buy if it was a “real” product, etc).

One week for sign-up and rule negotiation/suggestions starting now (February 3-10). The contest period proper will run 6 weeks (February 10- March 23). No deadline extensions/rule changes will be made once the contest starts.

Any kind of cheating will get you disqualified. Some examples of such behavior are (1) submitting somebody else’s custom figure as your own work, and (2) tampering/unfairly influencing the voting process (i.e., registering multiple accounts so you can vote more than once, intentionally recruiting new members to join the forum solely for the purpose of voting for you, etc). In addition to being expelled from the contest, behavior of this nature will also be reported to the administrators.

Items can only be shipped within the United States. If you live overseas it will be your responsibility to cover for shipping charges since they are substantially higher than stateside
