I know this may not be too important for many but I would suggest that we go ahead and vote and spread the word of TCL via our votes. Purrsia has posted the link for the yahoo group. Hey Manny, I signed up earlier and saw all the votes etc.. Are you able to vote for a site you are associated with? ie. can we all vote for our site?? I just think that is a bit wrong.

It sure seems that way, the votes are anonymous so there is no way to tell who voted for who. I voted for what I thought was the right choice. On some I did vote for EOT and Return to Thundera so my voting really is what I think it is fair not because I belong to this site. For example i think there was one with the best episode guide and my honest vote was for Purrrsia’s site simply because IMO is the most complete. Nothing against TCL of course but what is fair is fair and hers is the best one out there that i know of and the most complete. Vote for what you think its right and by the way Kyle you have been nominted several times already

Each fandom member is allowed one vote per award to be given. While it’s not against the rules per se to vote for yourself, it is really lame.
Not against the rules, but it is not recommended as well.
Hi guys, just thought I’d clarify some things.
Right now we’re just nominating, not voting. So there’s really no reason, if TCL.org (or anything else) is already nominated for something at this point to keep putting it in. At this stage, repeat nominations are meaningless and actually make it harder for me to sort the nominees and not miss anyone. It’s also highly recommended that you read the rules, what each award criteria entails, and watch the group and/or put your email notices on because I do from time to time post announcements about misplaced nominations and their impending deletion from the tables. If something doesn’t belong in a certain award category, it will be axed (for example, a site that didn’t debut in the 2006 calendar year cannot compete for Best New Site) and not go through to the actual voting round.
One nomination per award (where things qualify of course) will get you through to the voting round. Sorry if there was some confusion.
And yes, nobody can tell if you voted for your own site or whatever, but indeed it is discouraged. I generally should hope people like their own sites 
When the polls for actual voting are posted, they’re usually set up so people can’t see the results until the polls close, so you won’t know what’s in the lead til the end. I think it helps cut down on the urge to artificially manipulate the votes at the last minute, and it also adds some excitement and suspense to the process, too.

I have visited the yahoo group several times already and I myself noticed some entries that didnt seem to fit well. It sure clears up things a bit now that youve mentioned this and sometimes people, me included get a bit lazy when reading the guidelines. Im sure people that belong to their respective sites voted for themeselves but I for one wouldnt think about voting for something that I do not deem worthy of an award. I mean I cant really vote TCL for any fan fic award because truthfully that is one area that we need to step up in.Thanks for the clarification though
Yeah, that’s ok.
I was in charge of what site awards to give out this year, for example, and I know I at least try to break things down to give everyone a chance to go for what they may excel in…whether it be a good art or fic archive, great downloadables, good info, a good looking site, or whatever (and sometimes, yes, one site can wear many hats). I split up new and old sites too to make sure that newbies aren’t going to get stomped by established sites with a following, and so on. I also tried to make awards to honor some of our active fandom members that may not run or create the sites, but are important all the same. So I am kinda a stickler for people putting things where they should when nominating.
As far as nominating and voting for oneself, I don’t - even if I may think my site is deserving of it simply because I’d feel like an ass if my site won by one vote and it was mine. Sure, nobody else is gonna know that’s the case, but me and my conscience will! I just figure I know I’m proud of some things I’ve done but with these awards, I’m curious to see if the fandom sees it the same way, so I keep my influence and bias out of it in that regard.
However, that said a lot depends on who takes part and what tastes they have. Ideally, I’d love for everyone active in the fandom to take part. But the group has 100+ members and out of that, you’ll be lucky if 30 of them actually vote in the voting round. So you have a very small number of fans deciding who’s getting awards. If they’re loyal to a certain site, author, or artist then it may very well not be a reflection of what is over all the “best”. Or if one site is more successful in getting out the word and getting supporters to join and vote, for example, than another then that’ll do it too.
So honestly, take it with a grain of salt.
The awards are supposed to be fun. If you win, I admit it is flattering and a nice feeling. But if you don’t win, don’t worry. It doesn’t mean you failed or you suck, either. And there’s always next year
That’s how I see it anyway.
At any rate, new ideas are always on the table for the awards and we’ve been trying to turn over who works on them from year to year to get fresh ideas in there and also to give some of us a break who annually tend to take up the mantle. I didn’t want to do anything on the planning/running-it side this year but got saddled with 3 of the six jobs for lack of volunteers. I know I’d love to see some TCL members represent and give us a hand next year. More the merrier

Yeah, I remember you asking on the Boards and the replies being somewhat underwhelming, LOL! Unfortunately at the time you asked we were all working ourselves to early graves trying to process the major site relaunch that we debuted a few weeks back, so I suspect that’s why none of us on the team here offered to help!
Hopefully for next year’s awards someone from here will be able to step up to the plate and help you out!
