The episode was definitely great. Jeffrey Combs was cast perfectly as the Soul Sever.
Now that it’s over, it was a decent episode. I wish Pumyra, Cheetara, and the twins would have been in it. Good action scenes and very suspenseful, but kinda lacking in some content (probably due to the thirty minute time slot). I’d give it a 6.5 or 7.
Why didn’t Panthro go robo? Weren’t he and Tygra going into the machine at the same time? Panthro’s just stopped for no reason.

That is the only thing I hate about this episode. The team is together but they all don’t go just the guys. That sucked.
Yes, but that was after Tygra changed. They were all going inside the machine at the same time. Panthro’s machine just seemed to stop going inside the circle when Lion-O broke free.

Where are the thundercat characters…wheres mummra?? and the mutants??? where are the episodes that provide story development??? another filler episode…OMG

It provided development. The whole next stone thing had to do with the plot. Plus we figured out the thing in the sky probably has the stone. This was NOT filler, at least not like the last 2 (which I honestly enjoyed very much).
I think the thing was they had a different writer. At least it had some decent action parts. I still think Tab Murphy should be the only writer because his episodes are always the best.
A decent episode, but…just didn’t move the way I thought it would.
Robot Tygra was cool, shame he didn’t stay that way for long. There were some distinctly Akira-like moments towards the end.
Now I wonder what is in orbit that is capable of raining that much junk down in one place. I thought the ark more or less crashed intact in the desert.
I noticed one of Tygus’s fighters in the background (Feliner?), guess that’s how they will get to wherever they need to go next.
It reminds me of “Forest of Magi Oar”, where it did somewhat have to do with the stone, but really wasn’t too important.
I think the main problem I had with this episode is it ended too abruptly. I would have liked to see them go back to the dog city or at least something!
Decent episode, but just as I thought would happen, they already had Kit/Kat and Pumyra together without actually seeing them interact for the first time together. Also Kit, Kat, Cheetara, and Pumyra were only in for a few minutes and it was never said were they went and why they didn’t go with the guys.
There was a little development. Not only do they now know why the book was pointing up, Lion-O is resolving some of his resentment towards technology.
Man the Tank was trashed though. Hope they’re not too far from the Berbil village.
The Forest Of Magi Oar was one of my favorite episodes! It reminded me of one episode of original series when Lion-O was tricked by a space creature (can’t think of episode name)
Yes, it was a great episode, but it was right before the finale and really had nothing to do with it at all. I’m just comparing.
We know the title of the finale is “What Lies Above” and we got confirmation in this episode that does does indeed “lay above” in the sky and the Book wasn’t being cryptic in it’s pointing of up. I think Soul Sever may just be this series version of Vultureman, even though he isn’t really a bird in any way, he does fit a lot of the character requirements and since the Ancient Spirits of Evil in this series are represented by a Lizard, a Jackal, an Ape, and a Vulture his addition would would have all the Spirits represented in the flesh (which may be their plan, using the bodies of the generals to escape wherever they’re trapped and enter the physical plane to destroy the Thundercats.
This is all just speculation though, the finale may have nothing more to do with this episode than all appears. Either way while this episode may qualify as “filler” like “The Forest of Magi Oar” it sets up bigger things down the line.
Also I was totally loving the gigantic “Re-Animator” shout out in this episode, but with Jeffrey Combs on board that sort of thing is just a given.
While it was good to see Lion-O cured of his Luddite tendencies, they didn’t make much sense to begin with. Technology didn’t destroy Thundera. Lizards, mummies and hubris did.
The series had so much momentum coming out of BotB, I feel like it’s almost ground to a halt now going into the last two-part episode. We had three awesome episodes in a row followed by three quasi-filler episodes in a row.
So what’s next…they use what’s left of the tank to rebuild the space fighter?
