That rough sarcastic jerky alpha male personality is a big part of who he is. I don’t see how you can hang on to feelings for someone like that for years without enjoying some aspects of it. Well we all know Cheetara knows there’s more to him than that. She knows his softer more compassionate side as well. Her " ..he’s always been in his little brother’s shadow" comment also makes me think she knows that he has some internal hang ups that make him act the way he does. It’s that side of Tygra that others really don’t get to see;)
Pepe was a favorite when I was little, but now he really creeps me out.Like I don’t want to catch my nieces watching him on tv. Guy’s a weirdo:eek: Funny how age and maturity can give you a whole new perspective on a character.
I’m sure they found out some way, at the end when Lion-O asked how Tygra was feeling everyone seemed clued in, maybe Lion-O had given a loose explanation??
And yeah you’re right Cheetara has to dig that about Tygra, when he’s strutting around like a pea****, in fact in a lot of ways females animals are hardwired to love it, and since they’re cats and seem more in touch with their primitive sides than humans I’m betting that old instinct of desiring those types is even stronger, stronger alpha males are better at protecting you and your cubs/kits, produce healthier, smarter and stronger cubs as well, its a wonder they aren’t “procreating” yet!
I KNOW!!! I was just watching a Looney Tunes short with Pepe and I was like ‘what a perv! Can somebody please help that poor defenseless cat?!!’ Though I thought it was VERY funny as a kid its implications are frightening, here’s this cat running, panting in exhaustion to get away from some pervert that’s just skipping along taking his time to seize his victim. Ever see that Dave Chappelle short where he talks about watching Pepe with his kids, ROFL!!!
I just recently watched Dexter’s Lab again, and I realized how many of the jokes I didn’t understand. It was 100% better than I remembered and I loved it before.
Anyway, I doubt Tygra would be creepy with Cheetara if he was flirting with her on the potion. He doesn’t seem very creepy and weird with his feelings for Cheetara like Pepe. It would have been funny to see him flirt with her a little, though.
Totally agreed. But the fact that the show is a vehicle to push toy sales means this probably won’t ever happen.
I noticed this aswell. But it is just due to cultural changes where a lot more is tolerated now than before. There was a time many decades ago when a certain movie displayed a naked female back, and this was unprecedented, a huge deal. And now you can watch Game of Thrones on TV every week for a healthy dose of nudity, explicit incest, torture, murder, and it’s all good.
Actually, I think the OS were more “adult” (for an 80s show) than the NS.

I know Lion-O has used the power of the Eye to shoot energy from the Sword several times, but is this the first time he’s used the lightning power?
I can’t remember him using it, but I’m not 100% sure. Claudus certainly used the lightning though. Honestly I prefer the lightning to the red beam.
I do too. It looked awesome and worked really well.
I think they’re two different powers though, the red beam comes from the Eye, but the lightning comes from the Sword’s blade.
So this episode is bursting with OS vibe! I enjoyed it and here are my comments:

It reminded me a lot of the plain and simple episode structure of the OS.Even from the ep’s beginning where Mamm-ra at his cauldron calls to the ASOE to help him to the team victory at the end. Mamm-ra(os) used to take many forms and deceived the Tcats on various occasions. I wanted so much to see once again the evil wizard single-handedly attack Tcats. We have seen it very few times this on the NS. Thumbs up for bringing it back:thumbsup:. On top of that, the Thundertank was so massive!

We all desperately craved for more team action, and here we had the united battle against the Titan. Due to the enormous size and dinosaur look alike it was as if the cats were fighting against the Giant Technopede in ‘Turmagar the Tuska’, that fight scene was also the best teamwork fight in the OS.

A lot of comic relief! Pumyra’s swollen face would have happened most likely to Snarf in the OS. I don’t recall another ep. so far where i laughed my head off so much!
Tygra’s deliriousness wasn’t exactly what i had in mind when i had previously commented on the character being easily influenced by external stimuli. In the OS we have some great moments coming from his addictive-dark side, the new set of writers should tap better on this instead of presenting him like a dilly-dallying goofy. However, it was a lot of fun watching him in this state and played out well.
4)The interaction with Ponzi, the Wolo was another part harking me back to the main constitutes of the 80’s series. We had many examples of Tcats working along with the natives of Third Earth to repel enemies. Tcats were trusted by the people and by systematically providing help they managed to establish their presence in Third Earth as the pillars of strength. The idea behind this was to show that Lion-O has progressed as a leader and can look after not merely his team but the surrounding races/Villagers who need help. By consolidating his presence Lion-O expanded his reputation and the Tcats were seen as defenders of justice applauded by the good natives. The same could be done in the NS to establish Lion-o and his team as the harbingers of peace.
5)Why Kevin Kliesch didn’t compose and included earlier in the NS the remix of this amazing OriginalTheme when Lion-O fought Titan for the first time?Also Lion-O’s flip backwards and body stance was clearly a nod to the opening scene.

- Ok the Lion-o/Pumyra love affair played a major role. It added extra humorous moments and it was nice to watch, still i believe this romance is a detriment to Lion-O’s maturity process and leadership skills. It’s not suitable for the Lord of the Thundercats to tremble before a girl or scheming devious ways to coquet her. Maybe this is a reason why we had almost no flirt in the OS. The love frolics deviate Lion-O from his goal as well as establishing his presence as the impending Lord. We have seen quite a lot of his ‘boy’ side, now that we are reaching towards the end of season1 we should focus on his serious tasks and the seriousness they demand.At 23’ minutes runtime, you can’t encompass everything, so i’d easily sacrifice romance for potency
With the whole relationship thing, lordore, I’ll have to disagree. Although his flirting seemed immature and boyish, it does show his maturity in getting over Cheetara and moving on. Plus, he likes her for far more mature reasons than his crush on Cheetara, which was basically just competitive with Tygra and one-sided.
Kind of late for posting. Oh well, I had a good birthday/Memorial day weekend. Got more Thundercats toys woo! Anyway, this episode…was AMAZING!! Glad that Pumyra and Lion-o hooked up. I was surprised how their realtionship grew so quickly. I thought it would take at least maybe 6 episodes or half a season before they hooked up. I will not be able to look at Tygra the same way again after this episode lol! I couldn’t stop laughing! I lost it when Tygra started to put flowers in his hair. This episode is defiantly my favorite!
Glad to see Tygra finally come out of the closet. Good for him that potion gave him the boost he needed.
Um, he has a girlfriend. I highly doubt he “came out of the closet”.

The flirting was childish. And it is not mature to jump from one girl (or guy) to the next one so soon just because the first one rejected you.
About the potion’s effects on Tygra, I think the show turned it the wrong way. It was supposed to soften a heart, that doesn’t necessarily means to make someone that sensitive and ridicule, only more honest with his/her feelings.
Also, can you imagine the OS Tygra acting like that? lol

My take on the love potion and its use is that the story somewhat wraps up on the moral the story should offer: it’s not so easy to achieve a worthy goal. I may be wrong but honestly, in cartoons I give no second thought to the use of potions. Potions with diverse uses are part of many fairy tales I grew up with and I had no problem there, nor do I now. After all, they always backfire and my, this did in such a fun way.
