ThunderCats Episode 22: “The Forever Bag” Airdate: 19th May 2012, 9.30am ET
Kit and Kat follow Tookit into his magical Forever Bag - a seemingly normal bag that is infinitely big on the inside - where they meet a group of orphans. Seduced by the their fun loving lifestyle of Tookit and the orphans, Kit and Kat are tricked by Tookit into becoming thieves again. Now they must turn the tables on the charming rogue Tookit or end up in jail.
It wasn’t in my top ten list either, neither was the ‘Took-it’ substory but i do understand the need to show the past and origin story of the kittens as well. Generally their appearence and contribution to the story development hasn’t been up to par, so the writers have to fit them in with some exclusive eps.
The last three eps have been very story wise ans have set the scene for more action and new quests. We can see ‘Pit’, Curse of Ratilla’ an ‘birth of the Blades’ as a Three Part episodes.After the culmination the andrenaline will tone down a bit with this Saturday’s ep.!!
At first glance, this episode has all the makings for one big filler that will be loved by the kids. I do hope it manages to either make its own contribution to the bigger story arc or at least includes something of what’s going on with the elder cats. I’d like to see the dogs at least look concerned at spotting Mumm-Ra’s army so close to their city, just to name one possibility.
The plot of “The Forever Bag” sounds a little simplistic. I hope it isn’t and that the Kittens and Toolkit are showcased in a much better fashion than they were in “Survival of the Fittest”.
Well, I take that back. This looks like a fun story, and I agree that the kids will definitely like it!
Has anybody considered the possibility of the kittens reuniting with their mother and siblings in this episode?? Sure, this title is obvious that we’re going to have the payoff, (no pun intended) with Snarf and the kittens tracking down Tookit, to get their stuff back, but I have this feeling that the kittens’ family might’ve migrated to Dog City after the fall of Thundera, and if the ThunderCats Tumblr made mention of them surviving, it’s quite possible we might see them in this week’s episode.
There’s also a chance that we might get a subplot to tie into last week’s episode, with the ThunderCats going back to Dog City, after Mumm-Ra claimed the Sword of Plun-Darr. If we do get a subplot, involving the other cats, I am honestly hoping that Dobo makes an appearance in this. There’s a pretty good chance he’ll help, but just because he’s friends with Panthro.
My guess is that they gave the Kittens a sub-plot to keep them away from the serious stuff with the TCats rescuing the slaves; it would’ve given the script writers a major headache to try to keep them away from being seriously harmed during the rescue.
It sounds like Kit and Kat will have to choose between rejoining the team or staying with their mom and sibs. I’m worried someone will have to die by the end of the episode. :eek:
Ooph…I never considered that, and that would make me sad if a major character died in the series. I’ll admit, I cried when Emrich died of old age, in Lion-O’s hands. So touchingly bittersweet, and somber.
@Dragon78: I’m thinking that the “Forever Bag” is akin to a Bag of Holding in Dungeons and Dragons. I’ll be very happy if that’s the case.
Now that I think of it, the Forever Bag could also be a bag, containing treasures that aren’t necessarily precious stones or gold. Oh! Or it could be a bag that the Kittens’ mother gives them, should they reunite with their mother.
I actually really liked “Survival of the Fittest” and I actually like how they handle the group being split up. One episode is all about what Group A is doing and then the next episode shows what has been going with everyone else. I think its pretty cool.
While watching “The Pit”, I thought the Kit & Kat subplot was pointless, but now that I see they are dedicating an episode to resolving it, it just shows to me that these guys know what they are doing and do have a plan for this stuff.
One thing I hope is that they cut down on the Flashbacks a little bit. From “Native Son” to “Birth of the Blades” every episode except the “The Pit” has had some kind of backstory flashback sequence, and while it added alot in all of those cases (Except for maybe BotB where it seemed a little forced), but its time to cut back on that and start looking forward rather than backward.
In the way i see it, the Kittens work as the comic relief, just like Snarf with his loveable character did in the OS, since Snarf now plays mainly only a cameo role, the Kittens’ actions are towards this direction.I belive they had to split them because the last three eps were fast paced full of dark and nerve racking elements.The laugh part had to be put out for a short while.
As for the Flashbacks, for me its one of the best things the new set of writers have masterfully done and to their credit the origins stories are so well included that the coherency isn’t affected. I look forward to more

@LordLore: I love the flashbacks, too and I’m sure we’re going to get plenty of them as the series unfolds. It’s probably the neatest thing about this series.
I really liked the substory with Tookit . the show is really good in making these little fantasy stories with tallking animals , and magical items . they have charm … so even if it’s a filler I am really looking forward to it .
Besides , it seems like we won’t get an actual lenghty fight scene till the episode final …so …at least I can enjoy this one without being disappointed by that =|
The ep does sound like a filler to me. But it being ep #22 out of 26, I think it miht not be. You can’t have a filler only 4 eps to the finale, it must take somewhere.
Wasn’t there a flashback in “The Pit” to the moment when Panthro and Dobo met and fought together? Or do I think that because of so many flashbacks already?
