That’s true, PKELL. This was more a character-driven story, for character development, so I won’t be overly critical about it.
Although, the Wily twins’ story is quite tragic. You can tell that they value their family and will do absolutely anything to help them out. Technically, they aren’t orphans -they left their mother and siblings, when times got tough. The twins figured the best way they could help their family was by searching for El Dara to provide for their mother and siblings.
The book that their father had, that told the legend of El Dara tells me that it’s more than likely just a legend, and that there more than likely isn’t an El Dara on Third Earth. Think back to Episode three, “Ramlak Rising,” when WilyKit and WilyKat were introduced in the series. They mentioned to Lion-O about finding El Dara, the City of Treasure, and Lion-O (albeit, coldly) told them he’s never heard of it.
This also tells me that when the kittens finally reach their destination, they’ll discover that El Dara isn’t the place they thought it would be. Additionally, there’s a possible chance that the twins’ surviving family members might’ve survived the lizards’ onslaught, since it was implied that they were living outside of Thundera.
New characters are nice. But i dont even think they handle their currenet cast good regarding screen time and usefullness. It’s just gonna be harder if they add another into the group.
I thought this was a good episode. It was nice to learn the kittens backgrounds and see them interact here. I liked that the episode was connected to the one last week and did not feel like it came out of nowhere.
I personally also liked the animals we saw. Nice designs.^^
I thought it was a really sweet episode. It’s sad what happened to their father, but atleast we know their mother and siblings are still alive because they didn’t live in Thundera, thus they survived the lizard attack on Thundera. Remember, Wilykit and Wilykat had to travel to Thundera to ask for directions to El Dara.
I’m a mother with children around the same age as the Thunderkittens (9 & 10 yrs old) so I can really appreciate this episode. And as a mother, you do sacrifice and go without sometimes to take care of your children. I remember going hungry many times and working at a miserable job to take care of my children when I was a single mother for a year when my husband and I were separated (we nearly ended up in divorce).
I liked the comedy in this episode. They are children, you don’t want a very tragic element in this episode like the tragedy with Tygra. The parts with Panthro getting caught in the trap and Wilykit shaking the tree branch to make Cheetara fall was very funny and typical behavior of the Thunderkittens.
Children don’t understand that meat comes from animals. They like to eat it but when they see the animal it comes from, they don’t want to see it killed. Same way the Thunderkittens found the animals cute. You have to admit, hearing Panthro say “Cute ones taste the best!” was so funny. One time I was watching this educational film about the food industry for my Hospitality Ethics class and when they showed a slaughter house, my daughter walked in the room and it upset her. I had to explain to her that is where our food comes from.
This episode showed the innocence of a child and Wilykit and Wilykat weren’t being lazy, they were just reasoning everything with the mind of a child as all children do. One time, when my daughter told my son he’s too little to do something (I don’t remember what), he replied “I’m almost an adult, I’m going to be 10 years old soon.”
A ThunderMom or a ThunderDad will appreciate this episode.
The whole flashback thing is getting very close to “Lost” territory…they really need to stop focusing on the past and get moving forward in the present…I’m thinking that “The Pit” is the begining of a more forward progression in the series.
Now that the main crews backstories have been somewhat explored..we have All the ingredients to get cooking…so they better get to it next week! Very excited!
The thing that got me though, is that even if some children act like that, earlier during the flash backs they absolutely didn’t. They almost begged their parents to let them help. And then in the present with Panthro and Cheetara they flipped a 180 and didn’t want to help at all. It just seemed totally contradictory to me.
Children contradict themselves all of the time. My children do. There are times they want to help me cook or clean and then there are times they don’t want to help out at all. I’m working on my garden right now, sometimes my daughter wants to help me and if I ask her to run in the house to get something, she doesn’t want to, she wants to do what she wants. This is just how children are They will grow out of it eventually…I hope LOL Even when I was a little girl, all of my classmates and I wanted to help out the teacher but when I came home from school, you couldn’t get me to do the same thing at home.
Last time I checked, Kit said “Their mother died” but I can see her and her brother’s reasoning for that. They’re simply too proud to say they ran away to find a city that may or may not exist.
I was totally like that in my younger days! It happens to all of us even me, I sometimes get like that at Subway before I order…it’s called being indecisive lol
Kids need motivation/encouragement to do almost anything nowadays…back then we had “the belt”, that’s all the motivation I needed to see (End of story).
ROFLMAO! My mother used to beat my a$$ with a belt on almost a weekly basis back in the 1980’s. My father rarely used the belt on us because all he had to do was start yelling through his clenched teeth while unfastening the belt and my sisters and I would scatter in three different directions. That was all he had to do and didn’t even have to use the belt on us, the scare alone was enough. My sisters and I were perfect angels for the rest of the day. LOL
My generation will appreciate this…remember your mother saying “Wait till your father gets home!” When my mother said that, I knew I was going to get it and I tried in vain begging her not to. I look back on all of this and laugh.
I dont think it was so much that they did not want to they were just having a problem killing the cute animals. Chetarra even said they have the skills. With their dad they were just so happy. even then They may have been sly little devils offering to help when they knew they couldn’t and their parents would not let them then later on at least they could say well we tried but we were not allowed. Sort of goes back to Bill Cosby and one of my favorite quotes by him. “you see we are dumb but we are not so dumb. it takes great thinking and work to keep from working.” The moral being you wonder why Dads sometimes screw up the most simply house hold chores? it cause we dont want to do them and if we do them bad then you Moms wont let us near them and then we get to do what we really want to do. Very Devious!
