Umm not to butt in but where did anyone specify a specific board?? And I’ve been here for a while now even before I joined I was lurking and I know for the most part we as a whole tend to be pretty respectful even when we dont agree.
I’ve seen Mako on thundercats.ws recently.
I was talking about the racist apologist stuff in the BB thread, actually. I’ve talked to a mod about it, but i haven’t seen anything done.
Racist apologist? Can you please elaborate on what you mean by this, and give an example? Do you mean people are apologizing for Tygra and Claudus’ reactions to the lizards? I’m hardly ever one to ask others to educate me, but Google is failing me.
Ws. is a hot mess. This is why the both of our (romanticide) minds jumped to that forum.
Tis a hot mess.
I need to talk to a mod about all that nonsense I seen last year in the BB thread.
This is what i’ve got so far.
Ok, but what is a racist apologist, and how do you know Tygra’s motives were racism and not a logical decision that he based on the situation at hand?
That wasn’t racist. Tygra would’ve reacted like that to ANY enemy, not just Lizards, which was Tygra_Rules’s point.
That’s like saying a cop who catches a black guy doing a crime and arrests him is racist because the guy doing the crime is black.
He hasn’t reacted that way to any other enemies than the Lizards.
And that example makes no sense in the context of this talk we are having.
What? Um he’s shot at and beat up every enemy they’ve come into contact with. In what episode were we given the same situation as the one he has with the lizards? What other age old enemy has Tygra come into contact with?
How does his example make no sense? It makes perfect sense. We have to talk about the show in the context of the show. The lizards and the cats are enemies. Tygra is the more logic bound prince of Thundera, yes he doesn’t trust them. It’s realism. Lion-O is right to want to unite the lizards and the cats, but I can understand where Tygra is coming from. Tygra doesn’t hate the lizards for being lizards. He hates them because he’s been at war with them, and they destroyed his home and killed his father. I think I see what you’re getting at, but this it is not as clearly defined as you’re making it out to be. The lizards that were caught in New Alliances were not out minding their own business. They were chasing the Wileytwins.
Now this show could eff up and make the oppressed group all out to be monsters and talk about how wrong they are to feel that way, but it doesn’t. The lizards are right to fight for their perseverance, and Lion-O is trying to get that through to his brother, but that does not mean Tygra is going to forget whats happened. That would be bad writing, and unrealistic. One day Lion-O will get his brother to see the light and he will become the savior of the Lizard race( which is problematic in itself, look up white savior)
You still haven’t defined racist apologist. I’m not trying to be mean, but don’t toss around a word you cant define.
edit
Nope. Changed my mind. I don’t want to crosspost the muck report. If you really want to see, you can check out the thread for yourself. Should be easy to find on the first page.
A racist apologist is someone who makes excuses for someone who is racist. And i was referring to Balgus’ example of the cop thing as not making sense since it was nothing like what happened with Tygra and the Lizards.
I mean, i don’t see any of my family blaming a bunch of germans and other countries for the holocaust, or anything. And the lizards aren’t the ones who killed Claudus, Mumm-ra did, and Tygra should be able to see that. He just doesn’t want to.
The lizards are responsible for how many Thunderian deaths? Yeah…Tygra is justified in not wanting to trust those that were involved in the attempted genocide of his people.
And how many years did the Thunderian Kings take all the Lizards’ crops and ruin their lives by making them have to fight to survive? It’s Thundera’s kings’ prejudice and Mumm-ra’s manipulation of them getting food that caused this to happen.
Indeed. Both sides have every reason to hate each other. Nobody is saying the Cats are innocent here, just that Tygra wouldn’t be ready to embrace the lizards after what happened. Lion-O is more inclined because of what he saw/experienced in the Book of Omens.
That still doesn’t justify genocide.
Merged Post:
This is a war. The lizards were working for Mumm-Ra. Tygra did not walk up to some random lizsrds and blow their brains out. The lizards from new Alliances were chasing the twins right?
I never said it did. The twins were being used as bait knowingly. And the Lizards are only working for him/enslaved because of the Thundercats. He may not have done that, but he is prejudiced and doesn’t seem to want to admit he was wrong about them, even when he saw them being taken back to Mumm-ra to be killed he didn’t care what happened to them. And he didn’t blow their brains out because this is a kids show now. He only thing he can get away with on a kids show is telling Cheetara he likes looking at her body after she thanks him for protecting her.
As of “New Alliances” it looks like much of the Lizard army is made up of conscripts. Under Claudus they were oppressed and under Mumm-Ra they’re slaves in all but name. Lion-O’s offering them mutual coexistence, it’s the best deal they’ve had in generation but it’s easy to see why they don’t trust him. Lion-O has to work all the more harder just to prove he’s for real.
But this also means he’s not only fighting a war, but also a revolution. It’s easy to see where Tygra’s skepticism comes from, even ignoring issues surrounding generations of mutual hatred, the fall of Thundera, and the death of his father, there’s the possibility that they’re spreading themselves too thin (although there’s still an underlying tone of resentment every time he questions Lion-O).
Both sides have excellent points for them and against them, personally I side with Lion-O, and with the knowledge he had available (there was no way any of them could have known about the new generals) attacking the Lizard patrol to free the recaptured deserters was a solid command decision.
If I remember correctly they never said the Thundercats took the Lizard’s crops. They said the Thundercats had the BEST crops.
You are correct.
Yes the twins knew what was going on, but the lizards did not. They went after the twins with the intent to hurt them.Sigh, switch blowing brains out for punching or something. It wasn’t meant to be a literal statement.
Tygra is not wrong about the lizards. They did kill his father, eradicated his race, and destroyed his home. He is not wrong to distrust them. He is wrong for not understanding why the lizards were driven to that point. Being able to see past all of that is going to take a great deal of empathy.
Not to be picky but “his race”? I did not see lots of Tigers there, and if the “Native son” episode is gonna be about a village of Tigers. How come they were not in Thundera? Cause “his race” was not even there ![]()
Dont be mad at me please T_T
