Hi does anybody no why the deleted scenes was not on the DVDs
I believe it’s because the original pilot and second episode where edited down for syndication, due to them running slightly long for the time slot. The DVD’s used the edited broadcast tapes for their masters and as a result the scenes are missing.
Thanks
Thanks so much I allways love these scenes you never no maybe one day new DVD set with the scenes
For the record, all the “extra scenes” come from the very first episode. Episodes 2-4 all have bits missing in the feature length version. Not much (apart from “Berbils”, where the whole sequence with the Trollogs and Giantaurs was cut), but a little. “The Slaves Of Castle Plun-Darr” only lost one line, about the Thundertank passing its trial run with flying colours. I think there’s only one scene cut from “The Unholy Alliance”, the Mutants’ first thoughts of Third Earth, comparing it to their own home - Slithe’s line “this is not a sightseeing trip…” being the meat of that exchange.
Also, and this is possibly where the confusion could arise, a few bits in episodes 2-3 were moved about. The last two scenes of “The Unholy Alliance” were swapped around; in the individual episode, Mumm-Ra returns to his pyramid to the Mutants’ jibes, and then we cut back to Lion-O talking about his reflection scaring him off. In the feature-length version, the final scene with the Cats is all one big scene, and THEN we get Mumm-Ra re-entering his pyramid. There’s even more chopping and changing at the start of “Berbils”.
I created a DVD release with the deleted scenes a while back. I did 2 versions:
The first was a reconstruction of “Exodus” as it was on VHS. The first 4 episodes edited as described by Liam.
The second was and extended edition, with all of the scenes added back in that were missing on the VHS version, creating the longest possible version of the first 4 episodes. This version has 2 audio tracks, as some of the scenes on DVD have different background music from the VHS release.
I also made a reconstruction of the “Thundercats HO! The Movie” VHS. So you can watch it as one continuous movie, with all of the scenes deleted that weren’t present on the VHS version.
These discs are still up for download from usenet, you can ind the NBZ files on www.fanedit.info
Is there no other way to see them ? I don’t really wish to subscribe to giganews for a once off watch. I will even pay you a fee to have them, rather than to subcribe to something I won’t use again after I watched them.
I still have a copy on DVD of the Exodus VHS tape.
I used to own the VHS tape of the “Exodus” pilot that included the scenes that were cut out for later syndication, as well as the “Berbils” and “Slaves of Castle Plun-Darr” episodes. ![]()
I’m on holiday right now, I’ll be back home mid August. I’ll try and get them on a free hosting site like Mega when I return.
Thanks a lot, I will appreciate that very much!
All three of these are now up on a free file host, as well as still being available on usenet. PM me if you would the links.
Thanks Booshman, downloading them now, looking forward to watching them !
PM’d
Wow, thanks! I am checking out your first version of Exodus and I must say you’ve done an amazing job. I expected a straight VHS rip, and if not for the increase in quality when viewing the parts from DVD, I wouldn’t be able to tell. Absolutely seamless. Thanks again and way to go!
Thanks for the feedback!
