Do I need to continue? These were only a few of the examples from the past year or so.
As has been pointed out, there are shows missing from the upfront that we know will air, these being Scooby-Doo, Mystery Inc. (which has new episodes in May) and Generator Rex (which still has episodes left in its season to be aired).
Now as to why these were left out, I don’t know. Maybe there’s been some sort of scheduling or production conflict. As for no new toys at the toy fair, there was the second wave of toys announced not long before that. I don’t know the exact details of that since I’m not a toy person, but my best guess is that they showed the new stuff off too early.
I will repeat, whether or not ThunderCats has been canceled, we should all do something to help contribute to to its survival by buying the merch. It very well could save the show, like how DVD sales saved Family Guy.
I’m not finding any other sources on the possible cancellation except for the Topless Robot article. In fact, a Google Search led to this site being at the top of the page! Hmm…

The upfronts were not for shows about to come back. And Scooby Doo! Mystery Inc. will be gone after this season is over.
Generator Rex is done once the currently produced episodes are done. Generator Rex isn’t coming back either.
Once again upfronts are to cover shows for the next year not shows that still are burning out episodes this season or about to come back in almost a month.

I’m a toy person. New toys at the same time had just been released for Power Ranger Samurai and Ben 10. Also toys that Bandai USA makes. They still had lots of new toys shown for later this year for the Ben 10 franchise and Power Ranger Samurai at Toy Fair this year. can you explain that?

I agree with the sentiment honestly. But just keep something in mind, besides the DVD sales, Family Guy was getting significant ratings on Cartoon Network’s adult swim. And besides that, the DVD sales were huge like in the millions and that had Fox turning their heads. So let’s say the next Thundercats hits, the DVD sales would have to be pretty staggering to get CN/TW to change their minds.

However, you then explain that the “upfronts” do not cover shows that are currently airing new episodes or about to start with new episodes? Correct me if I am wrong, but didn’t a new episode, #14 - New Alliances, just air in the US about 6 days ago? If I read your explanation correctly, there is no need for ThunderCats to be listed on the “upfronts” as they are airing new episodes currently…

I’ll take this as meaning that since ThunderCats new episodes were already announced not too long ago, they saw no need to add it to the list, since everyone already knew about it, sort of.
I don’t believe that a final decision has been made yet. Perhaps they’re still considering the future of the series and want to see how the next batch of episodes does.

They are airing new episodes of what was already previously announced and ordered. The first 26 episodes. Beyond that there is nothing else. An announcement for Thundercats returning at the upfronts this week means they are ordering and producing more, which did not happen. The new episodes that are on right now are not what the upfronts this week were about. It’s about next season’s stuff.

There won’t be an official word from WB because they are not going to come out and say, “Sorry Thundercats lair, the show is cancelled.” And the reason they won’t do that is because it will make everyone angry and incite a fan frenzy and then they look like the bad guys. They are treating the new episodes now like a second season and that will be it.
aerocoupe, just for example, GI JOE Renegades on The Hub. The show was NOT on the Hub upfronts last year. You know what was? Transformers: Prime which is now in its second season. Rescue Bots, new show. But what wasn’t? GI JOE RENEGADES. According to The Hub representatives the show was “not cancelled.” But you know what aerocoupe, I bet you dollars to donuts there will never, ever be another episode of Renegades. I don’t think that show is ever coming back. They aren’t doing anything new for that show.
While you may be right about Renegades never coming back, the Hub didn’t just say it was not canceled, they said it was on hiatus, and they gave the upcoming G.I. Joe movie sequel as the reason. With ThunderCats, the absence of it on the upfront is all that we know. The Scooby show wasn’t on there either; it has a whole season to be aired, and within that time it could still be renewed for another one. It’s perfectly reasonable that the decision to renew these shows is still being discussed and thus why they’re not on the list. So let’s just wait and see.
The last thing I’ll say on this is, to quote a character from The Boondocks, “The absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.” For all we know, it’s like as has been pointed out earlier; it’s probably not there because season 2 is already in the pipeline. Therefore, no need to a report on a show already in production.
Wolverine & The X-Men got cancelled because once Disney bought Marvel, all contracts to develop TV shows on other networks had to be cancelled so Disney could develop shows exclusive to their own channels with the exception of those that had already moved forward (Super Hero Squad on the Hub, Iron Man: Armored Adventures on Nicktoons and the Animes on G4TV), but once those eps are done, they’re done and there will be no more, as any future Marvel-related shows will be aired on Disney channels. It was not due to low ratings. TCats does not have this problem.
The Hub stopped G.I. Joe: Renegades because that was designed from the outset to be a series with a pre-determined ending. They have things on hold right now because of the upcoming movie. Once that’s done, the idea is to move ahead with a follow-up series to Renegades that will be more like the G.I. Joe fans are familiar with.
You’re wrong right there. If all of the contracts had to be cancelled after the Disney buyout there would be no second season of Iron Man: Armored Adventures on Nicktoons which premiered last year. First season ended in 2009 pre-Disney merger.
So no you are completely wrong on that statement. Wolverine and The X-Men didn’t continue because they lost their financing for the second season per Josh Fine and Steven Blum. An announcement was never made that it was cancelled though.
You are also wrong on GI Joe Renegades and making things up. It’s not on hold. The show is never coming back. If it was supposed to end there it wouldn’t have ended the way it did.

Holy F*&k! Can someone please lock this thread and delete it before WB or anyone from the show can see this? Seriously, this kind of crap is what would get the show cancelled. It was fandom talk that got the movie stopped (don’t get me started, I already got banned two weeks here back in 2009 when people began to complain when the script was leaked and after that the movie got cancelled three weeks later…but to be fair, this was way before we knew there was going to be a new cartoon and we Tcat fans thought this was all we were going to get) So trust me, those executives see this stuff and it does affect what they will do.
So to wrap it up in a nutshell, please…stop it! My kids love this show a lot and they look forward to the new episodes and if the show was to get canned because of a few fandom nutcases that will ruin it for everyone, how am I going to explain it to my kids when in a way I could have done something about it?

What can I say? I’ve been in this Thundercat fandom since 2004, I’ve seen everything and can expect everything from all sorts of fans and new fans. Look, just take it easy and don’t always be so quick to believe what you read online.
Umm I said the Hub didn’t say it was canceled. They are saying it’s “on hiatus” but I bet you it is actually cancelled and never coming back.

lynxana, calm down. Second of all, no cancellation will occur because of Thundercats lair message board postings. That ain’t happening. They aren’t taking the show off the air right away. They are going to show the rest of the episodes they produced. Release the rest of the show on DVD. And that will be that.

You would be surprised how important was and still is the Thundercats Lair presence throughout the years for preserving and keeping alive the Thundercats franchise.
The producers and generally people who were involved in making Thundercats in the past are aware of that and hold this Site in high regard. You are new member to the forum my friend and you might not know that Companies like Icon heroes, PCS, Larry Keney himself or even Creators of the 2011 show have been interviewed and made official statements directly on Thundercats Lair. Please try to show some discretion and i guarantee you that the present upheaval caused by the speculated rumors of cancelation has well reached the ears of WB and the producers.
It’s a wait and see situation, you have every right to express freely your opinions and we like to hear every fan’s thoughts.On the other hand it doesn’t do justice to the show neither the rest of the fans who eagerly waited for the Thundercats return 25 years to so easily write off the show’s continuation and treat it as a finished product.
