ThunderCats at ComicCon 2011

Good article, though I hope he stops referring to Tygra as a step-brother. Cartoon Network states he’s adopted. That makes him Lion’s brother without any step designation. The step- modifier would indicate that Claudus married his mother, which isn’t the case.

Ah, so that is how you do it. I just did that and you would be surprised at all of the new articles written up about it in the past few hours.

I need to edit this because I just found a neat article that spoke more indepth of the show.

Since Warner Brothers now owns SilverHawks, and TigerSharks, they said in the interview that there is a chance for these characters to show up in the Thundercats show.

Thanks for sharing that article, Queen Lynxana. I loved some of the quotes from Larry Kenney in it. XD

Ya all that was in the panel. you can watch it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUuHeTETh0E

they don’t directly say the Silverhawks are in the show, but it did appear that they were struggling not to give spoilers. They were very hesitant at that question.

and new interview from Comic-Con with Larry Kenney, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Dan Norton, and Michael Jelenic. http://tv.sky.com/interview-thundercats

Why would the silverhawks be in the show?
What are the silverhawks anyway? Does it have any connection with the thundercats??

SilverHawks was a similar show to ThunderCats, made by the very same people using the same art style as ThunderCats. This made it seem almost like the two could have taken place in the same universe. The same goes for TigerSharks. Silverhawks was more like a sci-fi space cop show.

There is supposed to be some space travel in the new series, so that’s why the SilverHawks could show up. Possibly they’re after a criminal that escaped to Third Earth.

Spacecops. Sounds like Mandora’s cup of tea

Yeah they were similar to Mandora except they had to alter their bodies Cybernetically so they could survive in deep space. I’m actually a little supprised Mandora never guest starred. lol

They even used a lot of the same voice cast as Thundercats (for example Larry Kenney was Bluegrass, the one with the cowboy hat and guitar). Here is the intro to their show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUe5Ugg6Iks

Rankin Bass had great intros eh?

Honestly I don’t even think the Silverhawks would need redesigning. Their designs were pretty timeless.

Thanks Queen Lynxana. This article (and others I’ve read lately) raises my hopes for liking show. Too many times I have looked forward to the “reimagining” of a show and have been very disappointed. Afraid I’ve come across as cynical in some of my earlier posts. I have my fingers crossed.

I forgot about Silverhawks..rocking show as well. Tygras voice actor did the voice of the main character in that show too. Ah the 80’s..when cartoon opening were so damned epic. swoon

And the third Toonzone review. By someone who never saw the OS. http://www.toonzone.net/news/articles/38252/thundercats-these-cats-can-dance

A guy who’s not familiar with the franchise was impressed. Everyone who’s seeing it say positive things. Pfft. See people. It’s most likely not going to tank.

I never saw Silverhawks or Tigersharks. But I really like the idea of involving those characters in the new ThunderCats continuity. It’d expand the new universe and add more variety and options for storylines.

I do like that they say by the end Tygra is not just a proud show-off. Maybe he won’t be just a jerk afterall.

And no I don’t think it’s going to tank. It’s getting a lot of publicity and great reviews and MTV even put one of the comic-con preview clips on their FB page which should give it a ton of views that it might not’ve normally gotten (not to mention I heard that the trailer was in some theaters before Harry Potter and Transformers 3 as well). Warner Bros seems to be actually fighting for this show to be successful.

I think the show will be successful. My only concern is possibly alienating some fans of the OS with the changes they’ve made. But since only a few people have seen it so far, it is too early to know for sure of that will happen, or if they’ve managed to offset those changes with additions that will be welcomed by fans of the OS.

As for kids, aka their real target audience, I think it’ll be a hit with them.

I have faith in this show as well, it’s looking to be popular. By the way I think they are not going to alienate the fans of the original series. They said in one of the interviews that they have implemented few things here and there, maybe Easter Eggs of sorts, to look out for.

The only fans I think it will alienate are the one’s who already don’t want to see it because they’ve changed stuff.

Honestly I don’t understand that train of thought. If all you want to see is the original Thundercats then what in the world is stopping you from going out and buying the DVDs and watching the old Thundercats?

'nother toonzone review. I’m starting to get a little upset at how all these people have advanced copies (there’s even gonna be another one tomorrow). lol This one isn’t quite as favorable as the rest. But he does say good things about the show as well. I think he’s just slightly cynical myself. shrugs

Whats up with Panthro in the picture in that article, is it me or is it a portrait of Panthro propped up on a chair.

That’s exactly what it is.

from what I understand he’s MIA right before the show. He and Grune goes out on an excursion, Grune betrays him somehow, and comes back to Thundera without him.

Makes sense to me.. jeez I can’t wait for Friday!!

I was at SDCC this year (San Diego is where I live) and Thundercats were everywhere! I saw so many children with those swords, and the bag is to die for.

Sadly, I missed out on the Lion-O exclusive. I could only attend on Sunday…the weakest of days. Next year!
