Is there any truth to the rumours that the Theme will be extended into a full opening theme like the original in a few more episodes? And be present on all dvd episodes?

There have been rumors of that? It actually makes sense when you consider the group is fast becoming a team and Mumm-ra has shown his true form and all pieces are falling into place. The intro material needs those types of scenes and seeing them before they have been shown in an episode would spoil it.
I haven’t seen any hints that they’re going to do that. I would very much like an awesome intro (even if it’s a DVD only special feature hint, hint, wink, wink), but my hopes aren’t up.

Very true, I didn’t even consider plot spoilers as a reason for lacking an intro at the beginning of the series. Certainly they will create one on par with how awesome the show is. -fingers crossed-

I was under the impression from something Dan Norton said in an interview that the new series intro has been created and that it’s been done so that it mirrors the classic intro - I’d assumed that the intro had been cut at Cartoon Network’s request…? 
The biggest clue that the new series intro has been created is the fact that the first few frames of the short little intro we get looks to me like a direct recreation of the first few frames of the original series’ intro, with the formation of the ThunderCats symbol!

Well I can confirm the ending theme is nothing like the intro theme. It sounds like stock movie music or something. That background is also animated too.

First time I’ve seen that image, Cartoon Network always split the screen during the closing titles! 
Very interesting to see that Jules Bass now has a songwriters’ credit for the classic theme - I wonder if this was a legal hoop that the new show’s creators had to jump through in order to be able to use it?

Forgot about these as well. Sorry bout that. I think this is from the amazon download versions too. You know like the on demand stuff for say Adventure Time. And that version actually
shows the Adventure Time ending you never really get to see or hear.
Yeah i had read the theme was cut because the network wants more time for commercials and that on the DVD we may get to see it.

If a mirror to the original intro was made, then Cartoon Network is the devil incarnate for not allowing it in favour of lame ass music videos and lame live action show commercials.
