I’m an avid Thundercats animation cel collector. I have a few from the original show, and I was wondering if anyone out there has any insider info on the new series. Specifically, is the show animated on cels or is it all strictly computer stuff? Can I acquire the cels through some means?
20 minutes of research has revealed that the new series is being animated by Studio 4°C, though there website seems to be down. Anyone out there know where to buy Studio 4°C cels (if they exist)?
I can’t say for sure cause I don’t know, but from what I’ve seen of Studio 4C’s work it’s got a lot of digital in it. I don’t believe there are any actual cels.
Because of digital tech, cels are mostly extinct. Found this out a few years age when I went cel hunting,and found out that like some geological stratum, century’s turning marked the boundry for their extinction

yeah with drawing tablets like the cintiq there just isn’t much of a reason to go through the extra step of scanning a picture when you can just draw it straight on the computer.
Well, cel’s are most likely out of the question. BUT concept work, sketches and the like may not be.

I know Lauren Faust, the woman behind the current My Little Pony show had some sketches and the like of her show sold to raise money for charity. The 2011 TCats staff could do the same one day.

Animation Cells are dying collectible these days. You know a Thundercats wall scroll would be awesome. Heck a wall scroll for a lot thins would be cool like Kickass, Scott pilgrim vs the world, Sucker punch, Buffy the Vampire slayer, Harry potter(or just Emma Watson), Jessica Alba..I mean Dark Angel, etc.
Personally I would LOVE to get my hands on one of the original mockups that we saw of each of the Thundercats! The one of WilyKit pulling her ears back into a ponytail and going Chinese was just adorable.
I was afraid of that. I know there are still a handful of shows being drawn on cels in Asia. I was really hoping Thundercats might be one of them, but alas…
Again though I don’t have any inside information on that or anything, so I could be completely wrong.
I’ve poked around the internet quite a bit at this point and haven’t come up with anything. I wrote an email to the contact on their homepage asking if and where cels were available. I haven’t heard anything back so I’m gonna take that as a “no.”

i regret for not having a cel from the original show, many times i was close in buying one but i chose to spend my money on other Thundercats vintage items instead, like for the Sword Of omens 5 months ago, before i joined the army. I had contacted a French seller bach then, if my memory serves me right, and i was about to strike a good deal for a Lion-o cel, around 300 usd. Finally i picked the MIB Sword. One of my top priorities is an 80s Thundercats cel.

About the New series i am not quite sure animation at present uses so much the drawing techniques as much as the digital means. Everything is drawn and worked at the PC
