I’d really like to have a consistent schedule for the podcast and I know that we’re all busy, so I was wondering if I could suggest some things.
If you guys don’t mind, I’d like to take charge of the podcast. Not necessarily taking 100% control of it, but I want to get a constant flow of episodes coming along…either every two weeks or once a month. I know our schedules are all conflicting, so I was wondering if it was okay with everyone to get people outside the site to guest on different episodes with me along with those of us (on the team) available for the recording.
I’ll be the first to say that I’m not at all the greatest speaker, but I’d like to improve on that myself and the podcast would be perfect for that.
I’ve already had several inquiries who want to be on the podcast and while it won’t be consistent in terms of people, it’ll always give us a fresh perspective with different people and different things to talk about.
It’s just a suggestion. Being an avid listener to podcasts, I know how people feel when podcasts don’t update on a specific time frame.
I want us to be more than just a website and the podcast just seems like an opportunity we need to take a hold of. So let me know what you guys think.
I’m kind-of so-so on this idea - I think the chemistry that we have as individuals is good for the podcast because it adds a fun, human element, and I like the fact that it showcases the team at this site and the knowledge that they (we) have. That said - I do understand where you’re coming from in the sense that our schedules really seem to conflict and keep the podcasts from happening. At the moment my spare time is very limited, Neil’s is non-existent, MannyC’s very busy, Kyle’s very busy, our recording times tend to conflict with Martin, etc., etc.
So, in short I’m kind-of reluctant to change it, but am not really in a position to object, LOL! I would say that I think once a month is about the right frequency for the podcast, as awesome as it would be to have one every fortnight I think until the TCats CGI movie gets rolling quicker everyone would quickly run out of things to talk about IMO.
I think you sell yourself short as a speaker and potential host, my friend, and irrespective of any changes to the show I’d love to see you host some episodes!!
I think once a month could work out for a lot of us. It would give us time to plan for them. I am currently going through a rather stressful time with very little time to even engage in forum discussions. Just had my house packed on Monday and Tuesday as well as doing papers for school and having to clear post so we can leave.
Its been very very stressful and once again I apologize for my extremely limited participation. I am currently staying at a hotel until Monday and I will be flying out to Germany…still have to do school work even though Ill be on “Vacation”…Im hoping this is over soon and its looking like mid to late June will be a lot easier for me and then it should get easier after that. Later this year it will get even busier because…

Im hoping to kick right into gear starting in June. I have a few things for the toy section like an area devoted to all the items Hollywood Heroes posted and an item that will get those collectors VERY excited… Im talking about the 1986 LJN Dealer Catalog; yes I have found someone who will provide scans/pictures so we will have all the dealer catalogs. What about this idea – we have a normal, monthly podcast with the Site Team, but I could get guests to come on to talk about their perspective of the cartoon, movie, toys, etc…
The issue about running out of topics IMO won’t be a big problem. With different guests, we’re going to have different takes. It’ll almost always be different.
I want to build up an audience before the movie hits so that we have a built-in base that can look forward to new episodes.
Also, I bought a digital voice recorder which I plan to use at the Comic Con this year. I’m going to go around the convention asking people questions about ThunderCats and create a podcast about it. It’ll be awesome.
The team podcast can happen once a month, but we can also have mini-podcasts that have different guests…I think that sounds like a great plan to me.
I think the guests idea is cool because it will give us as a team a little bit of a breather plus it gives us a more constant flow of podcasts. Two thumbs up from me on the once a month Team Podcast and perhaps another one every month with different guests
Cool! I think this format will help to keep the listeners interested. I have a list of guest panelists that I’d like to have on the podcast and I hope to have a new episode up soon.
