I agree about the whole Saturday morning thing. All the kids shows you see (assuming there are any) are all reruns. ABC has been airing the same canceled Disney Channel shows for years and years. Kids WB are airing old Yu Gi Oh, Dragonball Z, and Sonic X episodes that were out when I was still in high school over a decade ago. And Nickelodean just airs Spongebob 9 times out of 10.
sigh I miss Saturday morning cartoons.
And I hate reality shows and crime dramas. Bring back shows like Home Improvement and Boy Meets World.
Mate you’re so right, I’m getting sick of reality and crime shows. I recently saw an advert for some medical show centering around doctors who attend to the injured in war torn zone…how many medical shows we need? Even Disney shows are horrible these days. Boy Meets World was such a terrific series, such a perfect balance of comedy and morality.
80s may have been the days of cheesy television shows but one thing I always admired about those days was that people had imagination back then, even though silly at times. Just look at the variety we had Airwolf, Automan, Knight Rider, Manimal, Werewolf, Quantum Leap, Thundercats, Saber Rider, Silverhawks…and list goes on and on. Most of these shows were popular and family could very well sit down together to watch.
ABC family airs Boys Meets World in mornings (that show never gets old). Anybody ever watch “The Hub”? I don’t know why alot of folks don’t mention G.I. Joe Renegades it’s a decent show/very under rated but the animation is a little weird, another is “Jem” first time seeing that show. I wonder if they’ll make an updated version w/o all the colors lol (music is catchy IMO).
Saturday mornings will never come back..I mean the way channels handle cartoons now. And the only ones that air new episodes are the big three, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and Disney Channel. And animation has suffered on all three.
I don’t know what their equivalents where in the 80’s. But in the 90’s and early 00’s we had Kids WB and Fox Kids which ruled Saturday mornings. And those where on non payed cable channels, which the big three are.
Thinking on the history of the awesome WB cartoons from that era makes me appreciate that they’re the ones handling Thundercats.
I liked Boy Meets World early on. But when it focused so heavily on Cory and Tapanga’s relationship and turned Eric into a psycho, I couldn’t watch it anymore. And what was the deal with Morgan? I liked the original actress who played her.
Boy Meets World was just a little after my time I felt. The kid who played Cory was Fred Savage’s little brother and I was about Fred’s age, although I could never get into The Wonder Years. Full House was my favorite sit-com growing up. But I also really liked My Two Dads (it didn’t last long enough), Out of this World, Family Ties, Growing Pains, and Kate & Alley. I also remember a 30 minute show called Rin Tin Tin K-9 Cop that I really liked. For hour long shows, Our House and The Greatest American Hero were a couple I really liked.
As for game shows, anyone ever see Fun House? I always wanted to go on that show.
The Disney Channel is flat out annoying. All the acting is the same over-acting spastastic flat characters. It also seems like Disney is good at ruining kids lives, ie. Lindsay Lohan, Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus. I do think it’s lame for ABC just run Disney Channel shows on Saturday morning.
There are some crime type dramas I do enjoy watching, it just feels like there are too many of them and they tend to be really dark. Oh well.

Wow..kind of hard to believe. I guess the change I’'ve seen in Fox, CW, Nick, CN and Disney Channel is what you guys have seen for those channels then.
And I’ve tried to watch Prime..sadly I can’t. It looks to blocky in my opnion. >.<
Fun House, did that show air in the US? My show was Family Double Dare w/ Marc Summers, basically anything on Nickoldeon in the 90’s my brother and I watch faithfully, ah good times
Yes, I live in the USA. The host of the show was J.D. Roth. They’d have two teams, each with 1 boy and 1 girl. There would be two rounds and the winning team after the 2 rounds would get to run through the fun house. The first kid would would run through and grab 3 tags then run back and tag their teammate who would then get to run through and grab 3 tags. They’d switch again if there was any time left in the 2 minutes they had to run through it. Here’s a youtube clip I found from the show…
