Third Earth Map?

Hey all-

I was just wondering if anyone knows if the map shown on the Rankin-Bass webpage (similiar to the one used in the S2V2 game), or any map of Third Earth and/or New Thundera was ever released and sold to the public…if so, any ideas where I might obtain one? I already checked e-bay, and didn’t see one, but I didn’t really check all that in depth. For those of you without the DVD, here’s the link to the map:

any help would be greatly appreciated :cheetaraveryhappy:

I can’t help you out with the Rankin-Bass map, but I believe this is one of the tasks we would like to in the future for the site by making our own map based off the official one.

That would DEFINATELY be awesome, especially if you guys sold it as a poster, would gladly pay large sums for that  Anyways, would love to help in any way I can with that as well!

check out this webpage I found. I have had this saved for a while and never had a reason to use it. Click on it to super size it

print it out and see how it works for you. it’s from an old thundercats site that I dont believe is still updated (I could be wrong)

Sweet Map! I like the second one better, it’s so colourful and easy to make out everything.

Hi everyone.

Agree with you ruu-ben, the second one is class, altough i do like the rankin bass designs especially the various sketches of the characters, have always been into the more rough sketchy type of drawing, like the type of drawings Games Workshop used to publish in their codices, maybe still do i don’t know - always made me so jealous i have no ability to draw what so ever… Given the calibre of the artwork already published in the encyclopedia it would be fantastic if TCL were to produce a new version, I’m sure it would be very cool.

Only one thing I noticed - shouldn’t Castle Plundar be facing north as opposed to south? Whenever the TCs drove up to it they always saw the front looming in the distance? Another small canon irregularity?

Later a x

and I agree with you there! I think Kyle’s art is amazing and I’m so glad he is part of the site because without him, the encyclopedia wouldn’t be the same.

I think your right! If I were to make a map I’d try to make it as cartoon accurate as possible. With the map being an early concept some of the names are wrong such as ‘Fire Thrower’ who needs to be renamed ‘Inflamer’

I cant speak for Kyle but I do think that the map is an idea that could very well materialize in the future. It is something that will take time since there are tons of locations in the Thundercats universe

I can speak for Kyle.. lol

Thanks for the comments about the encyclopedia, I hav some big ideas for a map which will be a great tie in with the encyclopedia. Unfortunately we will need to add the location profiles to the guide before the map can materialise. Rest assured that this is something coming to TCL.ORG in the future!

(first time poster!)

I remember that that map (closer to the second than first one) was released over six issues of the British Thundercats comic. It was the centerfold of each issue starting in the top left hand corner (if i remember rightly)

Chris here…

Yep, your memories sound good to me! If I remember correctly, the map was indeed split into six parts, and was (again if my memory serves me) featured as the centerfold of UK issues #'s 30 - 35, to tie-in with an innovative story arc entitled “World in Chaos” that involved the ThunderCats having to map Third Earth to avoid its destruction. Both the stories and the parts of the map were reprinted in (I believe) UK issues #'s 98 - 103.

The map hosted on www.rankinbass.com also featured in the first UK ThunderCats Annual, published by Marvel in assosciation with Grandreams!

EDIT: Oh, and a big “Welcome to the Boards”, D’arcy’s Carrot! I hope you enjoy your time here!

Take care…

I would love to see what TCL.org can come up with on this map! I think it will be awesome, because I know that they do great work here. Good luck, guys!

Once again, I agree that Kyle’s artwork would be awesome on a map.

However that great work you speak of, Tygra-wan, would be nothing without you guys who spend time here. I think I speak for everyone when I say without you guys this site would have very little point to it. That is what inspires us to make this one of the best Thundercats sites around.
