The weekly ratings thread

Me neither, i doubt they would cancel it this fast to be honest. “Nothing” has really happend yet and IF they would cancel the show when it feels like it has not even started yet then i really will never ever watch anything from CN or WB again.

I will say it again. They don’t look at the adult ratings. They look at the kids 6-11 ratings.

EDIT: Also don’t be an idiot and actually look on the date of that post. those ratings are from last November.

So, the question is, just how popular is ThunderCats with kids? I have no idea how to tell. All I’ve heard is that the toys were selling well, which would mean kids do like it, but I’m starting to wonder just how true that is.

As a product design student, in my opinion toys are the main reason for a child to watch a cartoon show.

If they can’t find the toys (they’re always out of stock here in the UK), children won’t bother with a show.

Therefore, if there’s something to blame for the lowering ratings, it’s most probably the toyline’s distribution, quality and quantity.

WHY?!

I understand that they try to make the show for kids. But if they get let’s say.. 3 million viewers but only 1.5 are kids (cause the adult was 1.4/1.5) is that not good enough?

Even though if the kid rating was lower they still have the ratings from the adults. Even thought the kids dont watch it OTHERS DO. How can that not count?

I can’t say for sure. I’m just speculating, but my guess would be because of toy sales and commercial revenue.

Adult collectors buy the toys too, but far more children get the toys than adults. Also the ads that they play during the show are generally kid-centric so they want kids to watch.

The biggest reason why is because adults don’t (usually) buy toys or merchandise. Lots of kids do though, and ThunderCats, like many kids shows, is merchandise driven. That’s why I think it’s important that we all buy some toys and DVDs. Another thing to consider is the ads. It’s a kids’ show, so they want to run ads that are meant to appeal to kids (toys and games, McDonalds, etc.). If all the people watching are adults, those ads will seem like a big waste.

EDIT: balgus said it first, and better than I did.

I think they should’ve had MORE merchandise to be honest. I wanted to see bookbags and T-shirts and underwear and mugs and everything else they could think of. I would think that the more departments in the store that you see the images the more the kids would wonder what this show is and look for it.

After this post I post here, let’s just not respond to Vileone. Let him keep repeating his message to himself and see how many times he will respond to himself lol.

CARTOON NETWORK 2.0/10 Avg. (7a-1p)

Johnny Test 1.2/15; Redakai: Conquer the Kairu 1.3/10; Beyblade: Metal Masters 1.9/12; Pokemon B&W: Rival Destinies 1.9/9; Ben 10: Ultimate Alien 2.2/10; Thundercats 2.0/9; The Green Lantern 2.1/9; Young Justice 2.0/8; Ben 10: Destroy All Aliens (1x90) 2.6/12; The Looney Tunes Show 1.9/9

Those ratings look good but i’m not sure if i understand them right.

Well the ratings look good, as good as Young Justice, only slightly lower then Green Lantern, so not bad all around. The real wining being Ben 10 both the final episodes of this series and the CGI movie.

Sweet, then maybe the show dont have to get cancelled after all.

I for one dont understand how the rating they show work, could anyone care to explain what all the numbers mean? The only reason i THOUGHT it got good ratings was cause it was simliar to other shows.

Well I am no expert ether so i do not know what the number behing the rating means, maybe the age group.

well I looked it up and 2.0/9 would mean that an average 2.0% of all television equiped households were tuned in at any given time during the show and 9% of households watching tv were tuned into the show during it’s timeslot.

As of september 2010 there is estimated 115.9 million television households in the US.

So about 2.32 million on average and 10.4 million people at most were watching. It sounds like a lot, but I need to compare it to the competition.

Going over the numbers, ThunderCats really does seem to be doing just fine compared to the other Cartoon Network Shows it’s airing alongside. It’s beat out by Phineas and Ferb and Spongebob on the other major cable networks, but that’s true for all the CN shows. So basically, there’s nothing here to show that ThunderCats is doing badly.

Aha, i wonder if that’s “good”. Cause many of the shows had similar ratings.

better ratings than it was getting on Friday nights that’s for sure.

That’s great. Then i see no reason why the show should and would get canceled

More people should be watching ThunderCats.

I don’t think the viewing figures of the show is the problem… the rumours seem to have sprung from the toys and their sales… remember the rumours first surfaced due to no new toy reveals at Toy Fair… perhaps things hinge on whether another company pick up the toy license, if indeed this is it as far as the Bandai toyline goes?
