Okay, I’m not even sure if Wilykit and Wilykat are going to talk but then again, it’s more than likely. But since they haven’t confirmed voice actors for these two yet; who would be your choices? Personally for me, while I don’t mind grown adults voicing children (particularly women) but you need actual kids. Once again, I bring up Avatar: The Last Airbender for another example.
For Wilykit, it’s either Jessie Flower or Joey King. Jessie Flower voiced Toph in Avatar: The Last Airbender. Joey King has done some voice acting work in Horton Hears a Who and Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. And has appeared in Quarantine, Ramona and Beezus and recently, Battles: Los Angeles.
For Wilykat, there’s Zachary Gordon. Again, he has done voice overs before. He was in The Mighty B and was Young Tony Stark in The Super Hero Squad Show and appeared in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid movies. Admittingly, I haven’t seen much of his work but he seems competent; he just needs the right script and proper direction.
And Max Records, he was in Where The Wild Things Are, that kid really has talent.
I think kid actors work great because they sound more like kids than adults faking it, but to reference Avatar: The Last Airbender that you brought up, the entire series was supposed to have taken place in less than a year an Aang’s voice was noticably deeper by the end. I don’t really know kid actors to know voices and most kid actors I can think of are adults now.
Well, his actor was on the verge of puberty so obviously they had to pitch down his voice in post production. But Jessie Flower, she was still a kid I believe when she voiced Toph.
Zach Tyler’s about 11 months older than Jessie Flower. Girls voices don’t seem to have quite as dramatic a change as boys voices do. Maybe Wilykat could be voiced by a girl.
Don’t really know who that is. Googled her name. I was thinking more of a girl doing the voice (meaning someone under the age of 18). Adult women who do boy voices really tend to irritate me in cartoons. It’s so obvious to me when they’re doing it. But I doubt a girl could really sound like a boy when I think about it. Maybe if they picked a pair of 9 year olds it would work.

Actually, she can do like a sort of girly voice. Technically, in the first season of A:TLA she played this like child assistant to Madame Wu in one episode.
To an extent. Have you seen The Last Airbender cartoon? Toph’s voice was very rough and tough for a girl, much more so than Wilykit sounded in the original cartoon and tougher sounding than her character looks in the new series. She has some tomboyish qualities, but I think she has some girly qualities too. I seem to remember a scene in the original series where she and Cheetara were out picking flowers when the the Eye of Thundera summoned them, an indication that she also liked the girly things. Also how she responded to the Bolkin (I think that’s what he was) in Tower of Traps, was much more of a girl way to respond than a tomboy.
Toph also has had her own girly moments. Quite a few. She’s not always crass and tough. Don’t forget the episode where she and Katara had makeovers. And there are other quiet moments where she was softer.
One of the good things about Avatar was that the main characters weren’t one dimensional.
She could dress the part and be part of high society, though it made her miserable. She spit in her hands though, that’s what sticks out to me the most about her because it just grossed me out.
I do love that those characters were not one dimensional. I loved Zuko because of his complexities. It would be cool if the new ThunderCats has multi-dimensional characters. I think it would could be interesting to have a ThunderCat struggle to do the right thing who could add conflict for Lion-O’s character in a different way. It would be good for Lion-O and help him to mature if not all his ThunderCats were perfect people that he had to sometimes face conflicts with. Think that would be a little truer to real life. Anyway…
I found one article that someone wrote about WonderCon on google and that was it, I haven’t seen many of these interviews I keep seeing referencing unfortunately.
I think Panthro looks like he’ll be adding conflict to the group. I’m a little scared about how Panthro is going to turn out. I really liked Panthro in the original and he looks like he’s going to have a totally different pesonality in this one.
Would hope they’d be more open about it. Ever notice that Panthro spends time Tygra, and Tygra obviously knows Cheetara well, but it generally seemed to me that Panthro and Cheetara didn’t pal around much.
