Does anyone remember The Real Ghostbusters? It used to be my favorite cartoon, and then it completely slipped off of my radar. A few weeks ago I found out that it’s been released for the first time on DVD! Season 1 just came out and I picked it up the other day.
It’s awesome! The episodes all have introductions by random cast/crew from the show, which gives a bit of a behind the scenes info about the show. There are also some commentaries, a "making of"documentary, and a lot of other cool stuff.
Yep, I knew about those sets - the guy who worked on the special features with the documentaries, etc., is actually a friend of mine (James Eatock, a.k.a. Busta Toons)!
I’ve recently got heavily back into The Real Ghostbusters, which was one of my favourite shows back in the day - for me, at its best the show is the perfect blend of action and humour, and is also stunningly well written with some absolutely beautiful (and moving) scenes dotted throughout the series. I love it!
I don’t know if you’re aware, but the company who are releasing The Real Ghostbusters in the US, Time Life, actually put out a Real Ghostbusters Complete Series boxed set featuring every episode, plus more bonus features exclusive to that set! I believe I’m correct in saying that the season 1 set you have is basically just part of that set that they’re now releasing separately.
They’ve also recently released season 1 on DVD here in the UK - sadly without any of the bonus material on the US set, but at a really good value price!
I have recently got the entire TimeLife set. I didn’t think there were so many episodes of The Real Ghostbusters so I was quite surprised when I started watching it.
I enjoyed how it tied into the movie, especially with the episodes of them coming back to the station still covered in Stay Puff marshmallow and another episode with them at the premiere of the movie
