Why was Slithe the only Mutant to be given a name that wasn’t also his race? Were the writers of the Thundercats’ “bible” lazy that day?
Slithe is a fictional character in the animated television series Thunder Cats. He is the reptilian leader of the evil Mutants.I can’t still figure out but i’m sure there’s a reason behind the name.
What I meant was why do Monkian, Vultureman, and Jackalman(which I’m assuming is also the names of their races ala human) not have actual names like Slithe?
Perhaps Slithe is short for Slither.. not a race of course.. but still a reptilian behaviour of movement.
I always wondered that as well 
Although we never saw other ‘vulturemen’ in the series, so maybe is race were known as ‘Vultures’?
I see what you mean with Jackalman and Monkian though.
Mummra liked Slithe best so he just gave the rest generic names.
I remember a toy magazine that had a huge two page layout of Thundercats back in the day. It described:
Vultureman-part man/part vulture
Monkian-part man/part monkey
Jackalman-part man/part Jackal
AND
Slithe-part man/part SLITHE??? WTH?
