Anybody who’s watched the classic ThunderCats TV show will have probably enjoyed the sound effects heard on it in addition to the music and voice acting. The original SFX heard in “Exodus,” “The Unholy Alliance,” “Berbils,” “The Slaves of Castle Plun-Darr,” “Trouble with Time,” “Pumm-Ra,” “The Garden of Delights,” “The Doomgaze,” and lastly “The Fireballs of Plun-Darr” are a definite highlight. The later SFX, beginning with “The Terror of Hammerhand,” took total focus, though most of the Sword of Omens SFX (even the “thunder, thunder, thunder” sound) were intact. Some of the sword’s old SFX made it into the 2011 series, which fascinates me to no end.
The music and SFX for the classic series, as I’ve heard, were mixed together instead of separately. Legal rights issues are preventing both from receiving an official CD release. However, if a certain ThunderCats fan were to obtain both and give them a digital upgrade with software, he or she would work something out with Warner Bros., which owns the rights to the ThunderCats brand, and maybe the music (which was recorded in stereo) and SFX (which were recorded in mono) would get an official release. I really wish the legal-rights thing would be resolved already so we, the fans, can finally go hogwild over hearing the magic of the original ThunderCats.
