Who in their right mind would dish out $900 for something that doesn’t even look like a ThunderCats toy? I’m not into toy buying these days, but I agree with you 100%, Manny. I’d feel very sorry for a person who’d pay so much for so little.:jaw:

But seriously though that seller has stuff way overpriced (look at the rest). Just because something comes from out of the US doesnt mean it is super valuable. He has a moc shuttlegun for 150, I just got one a month ago for 35 shipped.
I just emailed him to let him know. Of course he has a MOTU Zodac proto that is prob the top toys version but I dont know that much about MOTU variants to know for sure.
I received a reply from the seller stating that it says Playful on the foot, and that he purchased it from someone in Argentina. This figure is a bootleg. I have seen ten of these figures at least in the last 2 years. I also am getting one in a few weeks. If you have any questions regarding this or other Thundercats prototype pieces please get in touch with me via email on this board, a pm on this site or instant messenger, as I dont want to see any new collector get ripped off or any other collector for that matter. This figure is worth about $20, plus shipping.
yeah ive got a monkian bootleg, from a seller in argentina.
the bodys made of hard plastic, the legs from a soft plastic, looks a bit crappy to be honest but to pass it off as a prototype is down right deceptive. i got mine for about $16.00 inc post to the uk.
Geez, that doesn’t even look like .. anything! I lived in Peru during the 80’s but do not remember bootlegs like those. What I do remember a company called BASA (which had the license from Mattel, Hasbro, etc) selling the Thundercats mini collection which were very well done and the paint job was great. I even liked them over the American version (at least for Tygra) or their counterparts from the rest of South America. They were very popular back then but now is impossible to get them. It sure could make an unique collection. :cheetaraveryhappy:

I see a lot of bootlegs from Mexico always popping on eBay, are those really “from the 80’s” or are they still produced there?
I have my doubts too. Maybe someone picked up on this and is trying to make a buck by producing knockoff prototypes.
the bootleg in question is from the late 80s early 90s at most. There would be no point to making bootleg thundercats now when real ones can go for dirt cheap for common figs. I have only seen one bootleg (well 2 if you count different colors) that looks like it would have been made in the mid 90’s. I have a pic just not on site yet
