The Intro

I’ve just been trying to edit together an alternate intro for Season Two of thundercats which inculdes the new Thunderians and the Lunataks. But it struck me, the Thundercats intro is so brilliantly animated and flows so well, you really cant tamper with it!

He-Man and She-Ra both had very memorable intros, but were basically a character narrating to some images and music. Where as The Thundercats intro shows as much as possible as quickly as possible, and is quite possibly, one of the best intros to a television programme I’ve ever seen.

I apologise if this post seems somewhat boring, but it just struck me how excellent the intro is and how well it all works!

I know what you mean and have to agree 100%. The intro was excellent, definately much better than the ones on He-man and She-Ra without a doubt.

I don’t agree

While I think the Thundercats intro is excellent, the He-Man intro for me is the best one ever. It tells the backstory so the episodes can just kick of straightaway, you get to see the first transformation and it introduces some important characters by name.

The Thundercats one is better than the She-Ra intro and probably better than Transformers from all seasons.

I do agree the narration and introduction to characters really helps in the He-Man Intro, it just doesnt move fast enough for me, particularly in season two where they stick a still picture of Man At Arms, Orko and The Sorceress into the middle of it. I still love it though:)

I think one show that gets a good balance with fast moving well done animation and narration is The New Adventures of He-Man. I also like the G.I Joe intro, and the fact that it is in itself a minature story.

I have a proposition for you Shigsy…make a poll on he-man.org on the intros and I can say with confidence that ThunderCats will win.

Actually…I will make the poll myself… 8)

I can see you have and already Thundercats is winning, hmmmm how long is the poll there for?

Chris M

I didn’t put a time limit on the poll.

But as you can see in the link above, a little less than half of the voters favored the ThunderCats introduction…and that’s from a MOTU forum. Now imagine a general cartoon forum…what I’m trying to say is, ThunderCats OWNS when it comes to intros. 8)

I honsetly give G.I. Joe my vote for best Animated theme opening.
The score was great, and the animation was well done, and packed
with action.

Yes the intro is amazing and action packed but I still prefer the story centred back story of He-Man allowing the episodes to kick off without the need of a pilot as such. Same as Dungeons and Dragons. Not that there is anything wrong with pilots.

While I have to agree that The G.I. Joe intro was very well done, and that the intro of characters on He-man was well done, nothing could ever top the Thundercats’ intro.. It’s pure genius! :tygra:
