What some may consider filler I myself consider to be an example of world building. This episode is showing us more of the other bizarre residents of Third Earth. TOS was absolutely BRIMMING with moments like this.
And yes tons, probably too many episodes of TOS were also very Lion-O centric.
People are blinded by nostalgia and threat this as a high level production movie. Rofl.
As much as I’m not wanting another Lion-o centric episode, I already love the Drifter from what little we’ve seen so far. Seems like a fun character even if he’s probably not the best role model for kids either.
Now I can’t get that song and image out of my head. Someone make an AMV of this when the ep is available for download, please! XD
I know. I think the Drifter is like one of my new favorite characters ever. EVER. 
And I dunno if it’s just me, but it seemed like the OS always focused mostly around Lion-O rather than the others, so the fact that most of the eps focus around him don’t bother me so much. Still, like the rest of you I’m about ready for a non-Lion-O-centered ep even though I’m enjoying the show regardless.
Who knows? Maybe at the end of this ep not only does Lion-O get supplies, but starts spreading a message about uniting the Animals?
The first thing I noticed about the first preview clip is that the wall of the town is made of swords. 
Looking at the previews, it looks like this one has more of a western than fantasy influence.
Nice! I didn’t catch that before. I’m assuming they’re pretty dull after years against the elements or else OWWWW!

I didn’t see anyone from the OS but what a great interesting looking bunch of people do they have in that town! Designers can be proud.
Drifter trickster rabbit sounded like, or had the delivery of, comedian Larry Miller who guest spotted on Penguins of Madagascar. Yojimbo or Sanjuro anyone. My Clint Eastwood observation not too far off the Fist Full of Dollars Mark.
Penguins have a one hour special tonight. Might stick with that for the reasons others have sited. Or maybe not. I don’t care…

The drifter character seems really cool.
Its suppose to focus more on Lion-O than any other character but Its the sequence that bothers me. Why not do a light character driven episode on the twins or Tygra for episode 8, instead of two back to back Lion-O episodes?

Cool to see more animal species. We can add rabbit and some insect looking characters to the list now. Plus more of what we can assume are original inhabitants of Third Earth.

Of course the funny part is that nobody really knows yet if this episode is indeed just “filler”. They assume so from a couple of video clips.

Hey Larry Kenney voices Count Chocula right? I’m beginning to see the connection here. 
The more I look at the stills the more interesting this episode is becoming. From the last image where Lion-o has the backpacks it definitely will be one of those “Lion-O ventures out on his own” episodes, but they did that a lot in TOS and some of those episodes are great. Lets wait and see I say but I do agree that I wish they would start giving the other characters more attention. The TOS was fantastic about that, shifting it’s focus around from character to character.

This is what… the 8th episode of the new series?
The first two where definitely NOT Lion-0 centric… the other cats were very prominently involved.
3rd was somewhat Lion-o centric, but the other cats (sans Panthro) were heavily involved.
4th, not really Lion-o centric
5th, definitely NOT Lion-o centric
6th, not really Lion-o centric
7th, Very much Lion-o centric… sorta. I mean there was a lot going on that involved other characters, but none of the other main cats (other than Jaga–sorta.)
So, other than the 7th, I’m not sure why you think it’s only about Lion-o and the other cats only guest stars. They’ve been pretty heavily involved in 6/7ths of the episodes to-date.
Agreed it’s not a big deal and I’m enjoying every episode and ofcourse I also wouldn’t mind exploring the others more now too.
Yeah I agree, this is quite a bit more world building and exploration of what other species are out there than true filler stuff, especially if either of these characters come back.
