Pumyra’s recent betrayal in the season finale got me thinking.

What if they introduce the classic new Thundercats as a team of evil Cats that are loyal to Mumm-Ra?

You have Pumyra, who has already been revealed to be in his inner circle and, as far as we can tell based on what has been presented, is loyal to him.

You have Grune, who I believe can still come back. The way he was written off in “Between Brothers”, I felt, left the door open for him to return from the Astral Plane. Maybe he’ll be driven mad by being stuck there for so long. Whatever. I do think that they could easily bring Grune back.

Now what about the other two?

Lynx-O was a general in Claudis’ army and his fate is unknown at the moment. Perhaps his situation would be more mind control based than Grune or Pumyra, but someone with his presumed military prowess and experience is something Mumm-Ra could use.

And then there is Ben Gali. How to work him in? Well Mumm-Ra revived Pumyra after sensing her rage and thirst for vengeance towards Lion-O. What if Ben Gali had that same rage but directed at Tygra? Granted, we didn’t see any Bengal tigers in “Native Son”, but I would be willing to overlook that. What if Ben Gali’s family was killed by the disease that Tygra’s sacrifice was supposed to cure and he grew up feeling hatred towards Tygra’s father for what happened. Either he passes on along with the other Tigers once the curse is broken, or maybe he went out in search of Tygra to bring him back to the village in order to finish the job only to perish out in the snows. Mumm-Ra discovers his soul, revives him, and bing bang boom, there’s Ben Gali in the mix.

I actually kind of like this idea as you’d basically have an evil counterpart to the main adult T-Cats. Lion-O & Lynx-O would be the leaders. Tygra & Ben Gali are the tiger representatives. Panthro & Grune are the best fighters & have a long standing personal history, and then you have Cheetara & Pumyra as the females.

It’d be interesting to try it. I don’t know how the fans would react to having all three of the New Thundercats basically brought in as bad guys, but that’s why I’m doing this thread. What do ya think?

Evil versions of the heroes has been done to death. Just look at Shadow from Sonic the Hedgehog. Uck…

Maybe he could have some cats joining his side, but not specific Thundercats. In my opinion with what has happend with Pumyra. Let her be the “evil one”. As i’ve said in numroues threads i think the best way to use her is this:

She died with revenge in her heart, ASOE used this opportunity to grab her soul and control her. Over the course of the season they find out more about this and try to save her and make her well, but in the end they remember ASOE/Mumm-Ra only controlled her soul and she drifs away, resting in peace.

Of course that goes against most team oriented shows and fans who dont want their “team ruined”, but for me that would be an excellent use of Thundercat being evil.

Since the male-to-female ratio on the team would be completely unfair if Lynx-O and Bengali were good, I guess that would be really interesting. It would pose a completely new threat and really make thus show more unique than it already is.

Also after having their newest recruit betray them, how are they ever gonna let another cat join the party right now?

Very interesting idea. It would certainly further separate this NS from its OS counterpart!

It would but still is just done to death. Evil Power Rangers, Dark Link, Evil Sonic, Evil Thundercats.

At least you did not say you wanted an episode where they had to battle an evil image of themselves, then i would have to throw up.

I think Lion-O is going to be extremely suspicious of anyone they come across now.

Same here, at least i would not let anyone join the ship right now. It will be interesting to see what is gonna happen.

The Dark Thundercats just like the Thundercats but dark and made by Mumm-ra.

If it will be just for a 1 time shot it could be cool . yeah it was done alot of times , but so what :slight_smile: still love seeing dark versions

Of course they can still do it if done good, the question is “what would be the point?”

Perhaps it could work if he catches one/all of them and then made an evil twin to infiltrate after his Pumyra plan does not work anymore.

You can make an old cliche work if you’re talented enough. Power Rangers SPD did make a good twist with the evil rangers not be under mind control or for money, rather they see the villains side as a stronger force.

Of course, what i’m talking about is just randomly putting in evil versions of themselves just to battle. That’s usually what happens and there is no reason for it what so ever. Thought i do think these writers could do it justice.

Oh, that I understand your case. Okay, if they do it; they’re bound to come up with a reason like Mumm-Ra wants more generals. He wants to outclass the ThunderCats in anyway possible.

Or Mumm-Ra disguising himself as Jaga to fool them all. Or he asks the ASOE to turn into their evil twins. Maybe in an episode with the latter idea, I’d like to see the ASOE betray Mumm-Ra!!!

Who says he needs to disguise himself as Jaga? I imagine if he were to recruit Lynx-O and Begali, their souls would have to be tainted first.

TBH, I feel like that won’t happen unless he reeeeeeally sinks rock bottom… and right now - that won’t happen anytime soon. :frowning:
