Just wanted to make sure I didn’t step on any of the mod’s toes…but I made a personal decision to delete JustSomeGuy’s posts in regards to Celesta’s teeth looking like Mumm-Ras. I don’t believe he meant it to be offensive however, knowing Celesta I definitely think she would be offended by the thread. I was personally offended by the comparison and so for the best interest of Celesta, I deleted the thread…twice.
Hopefully whoever mods the Generation Discussion forum doesn’t get upset that I didn’t go through them about it.
I know Celesta isn’t very keen on TCL, so I don’t want to make it worse.
Right choice however the corresponding mod should at least notify the member as to the deletion but if the mod cant get to it soon enough one of the Super Mod either Chris or Neil could shoot an email…hell Manny you can shoot the PM urself. Im at work right now so i cant be sending long PMs right now
As most folks here know, I had very little time or tolerance for what I consider to be Celesta’s at times unreasonable and melodramatic behaviour when she was a member of this team - but, nonetheless I think it’s unacceptable for anyone, whoever they are, to have to put up with cruel personal jokes, even if they are meant in fun, on these forums, and so based on what you say MannyF it sounds to me like you made the right decision, and I definitely support you. What makes these forums stand out from other TCats forums on the 'Net is the fact that we will take a stand on things like this whereas other boards (and yes, I’m afraid I’d have to include Angie’s in this) don’t just allow it but almost encourage it, which I think is disgraceful. I know some folks don’t feel comfortable posting here because we are strict about these things, but I’d like to feel that what we lose is offset against what we gain.
However - one constuctive criticism I would make of this is that, in future, it would be helpful to me, and quite possibly to the other Mods, if an offending post like that could be put on “soft delete” rather than completely erradicated as this post appears to have been. AFAIK once a post has been even soft-deleted, it can’t be accessed by anyone other than the team anyway (at least, I think that’s the case, LOL!). The reason why I say that is because, for future reference in dealing with a poster such as this JustSomeGuy, it would be helpful to see his “history” in terms of his behaviour and deamenor on the boards, including in posts/threads that got deleted, etc. As it stands, if this guy were to PM me as a “Super Mod” and complain about the decision that was taken with his post, I’d be in the slightly awkward situation of having to confess that I never got chance to read it. I hope nobody minds me saying this - like I say, IMO it’s just something that would be helpful.
I agree. I think that’s a good idea for the future. Especially if we get more busy and folks don’t have time to go into details here. At least then we can read the admins/mods comment for deleting the thread/post.
Soft delete is one of the reasons why I want vbulletin for my forum
Yeah, I agree. Sorry about that Chris. I just got irritated after reading the post and didn’t even want to have any trace of that insulting thread.
The annoying part was when I PM’ed him, he had the nerve to say, “since you know her, may be you could answer my question…did she shave her teeth to look like Mumm’Ra’s?”
Seconded wholeheartedly - it sounds to me like this person is just a troublemaker, or someone who has an issue with Celesta. Like Neil rightly says, I’d just ban him and be done with it.
I think I have heard something like that although im not 100% sure abut it. His IP can get banned and if it turns out he signs up with something else we’ll catch him.
