It has been brought to my attention by mesepher here on the boards a suggestion that may generate revenues for the site to cover for the expenses that we have to cover on a yearly basis. He suggested that an online store could cary items like high quality posters of the encyclopedia characters like the Thundercats group shots Kyle did, perhaps t-shirts and even advertising commissions done by Kyle, not only would this help Kyle because it would bring revenue to him but selling something like numbered and signed Thundercats group shots would be another idea. I dont think putting the Thundercats group shot into high quality photo paper would cost too much. This would definitely be better than putting advertising on the site and it would bring much needed revenue for the website. Some things we would have to put money up front but I think it is worth the while to give it a try. What do you guys think

Knee-jerk reaction is that I’m not sure, just because as you guys know I don’t have a lot of spare funds and thus would have little to no capital to sink into such a project. But, the principle behind what you’re suggesting is a good one, particularly if the artwork/t-shirts/etc. all bore the TCL logo - free advertising! 
Perhaps we could make this one of the topics to discuss at the next team meeting?

Manny, already gave you my opinion on this in our earlier chat so won’t go over that again. In short I said it was a cool idea, but was wary of copyright issues with WB.
Like Chris, I’m not sure I could help financially to set the store up, but I would certainly support the idea and help any other way I can for sure.

Actually I think advertising all 4 DVD boxsets on the front page, with commission links to Amazon would be a good idea. Something tasteful though like what he-man.org does. Nothing like EOT.net! :roll:
I mean not only does it give the site some income, but we are also pushing the DVD boxsets (yeah I know they ain’t perfect) but if sales keep the way they are it’s more likely to convince WB that new Thundercats projects will work
This is a pretty cool idea I must admit, Glossy prints would bring in profit.. as for T-Shirts etc,… to make a profit a large batch would have to be produced.. which provides 2 problems
- Initial cost to the site
- Potentially a large amount of redundent stock (if not sold) and redundent stock is redundent money
But I agree it would be nice to get some money flowing in to help develop the site. If my images are a solution, I am fine with it
As decided on the team meeting T-shirts are out of the question…too costly at the moment, prints a definite and art possibility. We’ll find a cost for prints and go from there. If this does end up working out a paypal account can be opened for the website to receive funds
I only skimed this article but what about doing say stickers or car window decals. They could give a great amount of exposure and would be a heck of a lot cheaper than a t-shirt. Just an idea as I didn’t really read the whole thing :roll:
It just occured to me tha we can make high scans of the vehicle/playset stickers and sell them on the online store if that project ever takes off. It would be a very popular idea and since they would be purchased from us the site would benefit greatly. Is there anything out there like white sticker sheet paper were one can print it on? Just a good idea IMO

A good suggestion, the only problem that I’d have with it is that technically we’d be selling bootlegs of officially-released ThunderCats merchandise, albeit only a portion of that merchandise, and I would worry about it getting this site into trouble. Whilst technically that would also apply if we sold TCats artwork done by Kyle, given that these are copyrighted characters owned by WB, that I think we’d be more likely to get away with because the artwork would be unique to TCL…

You make a good point there Chris, then also comes the problem of someone selling a loose vehicle with repro stickers. There is a website out there that makes them and they have some he man stuff but no Thundercats.Yes it is repr (bootleg stickers) but even though WB owns the rights to the toys we would be making repro stickers from a company that no longer exists. If anything we would be promoting Thundercats and helping out collectors in a way.I think collectors would receive that idea very well and if anything we could always stop making them if WB decides to give us problems. In the end it would benefit collectors and thats what to me it is all about
