Oh I know they didnt do the varients. But do you want Tubes and hoses and screws and nuts and bolts on your Thundercats costumes?
I like the 4H,and I very much like their work,but sometimes I think they OVER do detail. They do amazing work,just I like my Thundercats the way they are.
Sure its not 1985,but Thundercats come from a simple time,hell they were naked… Thundercats was never about HYPER OMG! EXTREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEME KILL EVERYONE DETAIL,it was about easy desighns and amazing story. :o
I see your point. But you also have to realize that if there is indeed a new series, there may be a lot of changes and there may be slight changes. We don’t know what the WB has in store for this property and if they do indeed go with the Batman-esque animation style, something’s telling me we better expect a lot of changes.
Wow, is that a misinformed opinion. Take a look at Fantastic Four Classics, Batman, and DC Superheroes - especially their new Superman - and you’ll see that the Four Horsemen can do great classic renditions of characters. They’re artists, not purely redesigners.
I would love to see the FourHorsemen take on the Thundercats.
And I know from reading their Q and A forum, that they’d love to do it. But I’d be very very suprised if they got the license.
I think they would do the Thundercats justice. They’re not just artists… their artists who know the importance of character and storytelling. If a character has tubes, it’s because it’s appropriate for the character. Sure they go all out on detail on some characters. But others are kept to their character essence, look at Beastman, Triklops, Teela. These are SOME of their great re designs that make perfect sense for the character, and are not all decked out in extraneously detailed chatchkies and the like.
I’m sure they would approach the Thundercats with great respect and a good feel for whats appropriate for the character and the property as a whole.
Just as they did perfectly with MotU.
Granted that’s just my opinion on their work, I just thought I’d explain a little bit other than just saying “The Fourhorsemen are the best!”

But like Manny said, with WB at the helm, we can bet that there are a lot of things that will be tweeked or outright changed.
I’ll take it the same way I took the MotU come-back. With an open mind, and try to enjoy the ride.
Rumors of new Thundercats pop up on the net every year around Toy Fair for at least the last 5 years or so. Followed by the usual posts of “I know something you don’t know” people on various toy forums claiming to have some sort of insider info.
No doubt over the years many companies have tried for the license but unfortunately nothing has ever come of it. Heck rumors of new Thundercats toys can be traced all the way back to when Cartoon Network first started airing the show in it’s Toonami block.
I would love for there to be new Thundercats toys. But I would be honestly surprised if anything shows up at Toy Fair this year. I would be overjoyed to be proven wrong of course.
As far as my choice for making new toys I’d like Jakks or Playmates to get the license. It would be especially cool for Jakks to make them because of their ties with LJN. That reminds me, I wonder if any of the old molds are still around?
Hey Vlad…seems you’re one of the few who finally knows of the ties between LJN and Jakks because not a lot of people do. As far as the molds go i can tell you that some are still around. The ones that i know of are the ones used to make hardcopies and the figure would have then moved of to first shot stage. There is even a Thundercats Astral Moat Monster Clay Sculpt Prototype but that one sells upwards of $600
Those seem to be highlights of what they will be showing. They made no mention of actual action figures. No mention of what the next Transformers line will be or what will come next in the Sigma Six figure line.
Same goes for Mattel. No mention of The Batman or DC lines.
Thundercats fans have been disappointed far too many times over the years for me to really get my hopes up. I honestly deep down don’t think we’ll seen anything unfortunately. But I try to remain cautiously optimistic.
