Ok, obviously the first 13 episode story arc is of the Thundercats exodus from Thundera and getting to the tower of omens, then finding the book of omens. What could the next arcs be according to long time fans?
S1 ep 1 - 13: Exodus from Thundera and search for the book of omens. The Thundercats explore Third Earth.
S1. ep 14-26: Liono’s annointment trials and further exploration of Third Earth, fighting the other mutants, Thundercats building up tech to the level of the Mutants.
S2. ep 27-39: Rataro should show up!
S2. ep 40-52: Thundercats Ho was a five parter introducing the three new cats, which happened too late in the series. I think this could easily be done over 13 episodes with other interesting things happening at the same time.
S3. ep 53-65: Mumm-Ra Lives was another five parter and introduced the Lunatacs. It would make sense if this was done in a new season
S3. ep 66-78: The search for the treasure of Thundera. Just drop the TERRIBLE Thundercubs bs!
S4. ep 79-91: The EPIC return to their kingdom of Tundera.
S4. ep 92-104: The restoration of Thundera leading to an epic conclusion with the total destruction of Mumm-Ra!
It looks like they may be taking the same approach they did with shows like Star Blazers or Buffy where each season told one big self-contained arc that was built around a central villain or “Big Bad” who would ultimately be dealt with by the season finale, only to introduce a new one in the next season.
This would be an excellent way to introduce the Lunataks, as by the end of the first season, it would look as if the lizards, Grune and Mumm-Ra would be dealt with (even though we all know “Mumm-Ra lives!”), and so Mumm-Ra, looking for a new set of henchmen, would probably bring in the Lunataks as replacements, and then the next season would center on them.
They never said they’ll stop after 52 episodes. The producer said right now they’re working on 26, for the first season and might go to 52. That just meant there’d be a season two if it’s popular. Nothing prevents further seasons, it will all depend on the popularity!!!

Yeah, I understand, and I liked it for a standalone episode, but to me that kinda ruined an otherwise cool movie. Since it was a five parter. I hope this show keeps it’s more mature approach!

While I think the three new thundercats Lynx-O, Bengali and Pumyra need to be introduced soon, like maybe the start of season 2, the Lunatacks should wait. In the old series I loved it when the Lunatacks came along, but I hated the second place the mutants received. They soon started to treat the mutants like idiots on the show, and they’re my favorite villains. Especially with the return to Thundera, the mutants should’ve been there, since they came from it’s moons. They should’ve had a more important role in that part of the show!

S2. ep 40-52: I would not let Mumm-Ra get completely defeated until the end of this season. And I’d do it like in The Last Day, but more epic, over several episodes! The Mutants don’t get destroyed, but they get so utterly defeated they’ll be mostly out for season 3. In one of the final episodes, before his death, he could bring the Lunatacks in.
Introduce: Lunatacks, Skytomb
S3. ep 53-65: The search for the treasure of Thundera (without going back to their kingdom). The Lunatacks are the main antagonists here. Just drop the TERRIBLE Thundercubs bs!
Introduce: Amortus, Frogman
S3. ep 66-78: The return of Mumm-Ra like in Mumm-Ra Lives + the Thundercats find some way to return home. The Mutants find a way to return to power.
Introduce: new Mumm-Ra
S4. ep 79-91: The EPIC return to their kingdom of Tundera.
Introduce: many Thunderian refugees, Malcar, return of the Mutants
S4. ep 92-104: The restoration of Thundera leading to an epic conclusion with the total destruction of Mumm-Ra!
That’s kind of what I’m thinking. Part of the reason why I didn’t like the Lunataks initially was because there was already an established group of villains in the Mutants when they were introduced, and they seemed to get rudely shoved aside in favor of them. I’m thinking it would work better like you said; have the Mutants/Lizards all but defeated and Mumm-Ra later brings in the Lunataks - who are even worse - as a backup plan.
This was actually also the rationale IIRC for bringing them in in “Thundercats, Ho!” And for a while they acutally were a legitimate threat. But like the Mutants, they quickly were relegated to buffoon status. If they can take that sense of menace and sustain it throughout, then that would be a big improvement.
I think I would make the Lunataks into some kinda demons or something Mumm-Ra summons. Afterall every single one of them had horns. lol I never liked the idea that Mumm-Ra defeated them a long time ago. I mean if you can’t defeat the Thundercats, why would you think a group of people that you defeated could beat them?
Or maybe they’ll treat them like the mutants and will have them separate from each other instead of a big group.
Tell you one thing. If they are gonna be in the show, I can’t wait to see Chilla’s new design.
I wouldn’t get rid of the Thundercubs but you could have this 3rd season start years later when they are teenagers so that way they won’t seem so helpless.
