I’d be willing to bet the core cast aren’t the only Thunderians to survive.
What he said is they’re “pretty much” the only ones left. The “pretty much” left it open to the possibility that there are more. And they did say Bengali, Pumyra, and Lynxo were still going to be there. I think that every once in a while there will be other refugees or maybe even others who have been out exploring like Panthro.
Not a lot, but a few. Afterall how are they gonna rebuild their kingdom with only two females?
Well theoretically speaking in the old Series there were many other Thunderians who every once in a while made their appearance, the young child Leah, as well as her parents who were safely rescued from the outer space. Then there is Torr along with other refugees captured by Two-Time, later we see Torr providing help at the new Tower and its signal to guide a thunderian ship in. And there is also the devious pair of Thunderians Barron Tass and Mr. Grubber. Lynx-o clearly states in Return To Thundera Part3 that ‘when Thundera originally destroyed many fellow Thunderians escaped and they are trying to return home’
The story and the chain of events in the original does make sense, with the refugees gradually trying to come back home but in the 2011 series if the Thunderians don’t die or get wiped off the map isn’t it logical to assume they will try to form a team with the Thundercats, right off the bat? Especially if they are in the same planet! I am afraid if that is so, less emphasis will be laid on the Nobles..
That, to me, is why having ThunDera be a planet was so important.
But if only 3 ThunderCats survive (from one of the interviews), then something else has to be changed. We know Lion-O and Tygra are ThunderCats. That leaves only 1 ThunderCat between Cheetara, Panthro, Kit, and Kat. Does that mean 3 of them don’t survive? Or they survive and get promoted to ThunderCats (like Lynx-O and crew in the original)? Or can someone not count? Or did I miss-hear the interview answer?
I think the problem with leaving Thundera to be a single planet blow up but with many potential survivors is basically similar to Superman and Krypton. You have Supergirl, Krypto, the Phantom Zone villains.
In the original Thundercats, you have the second season characters and Leah, it’s like who the heck didn’t survive Thundera? Remember, I seem to recall mutants blowing up a few of the ships in Exodus.
And judging by Thundera in the new series, it seems like it has the same fate as the Roman Empire. The main difference being that while there are dozens of theories as to how the Roman Empire ceased to exist, Thundera is shown to be under attack by Grune and the mutants.
Basically what the producers meant is that from those already living into the Kingdom of Thundera, Panthro is supposed to be on solo missions and i am taking you back to an old interview where Mr. Zelenic mentioned:‘Once they meet all together’-hence him not appearing into the trailer, Lion-o, Cheetara and Tygra are the sole survivors of the doomsday!!
Now about Kit&Kat they don’t count, much like Snarf wasn’t included, yet he survived too.
I can kind of get how Panthro gets left out of the 3 survivors part. Snarf, who is a Snarf, doesn’t count because he isn’t a ThunDerian (that’s why I didn’t mention him earlier).
But Kit and Kat are ThunDerians. I guess that they aren’t ThunderCats, as the response to Astrokeep’s question was that different breeds have different traits and that the ones with tails were looked down at. So I guess that means that Kit and Kat are treated like being lower than the common ThunDerian?
