I’ve got an overhaul of my own site in the works and included in that was going to be a reworking of the affiliate program on it. Some of you mentioned partnershipping our sites together, and as part of that I was wondering if you’d mind being in the new program.
Basically, the biggest change would mean increased exposure for affiliated sites across my entire site. What I want to do a banner exchange type of thing - I just have to find a suitable script. But instead of full-sized banners, I’d probably want to keep it to 88x31 buttons that would rotate with each page click or refresh among participating sites. Problem is, I fairly suck at all things photoshop, so if this is something TCL would want to do, it would be cool if someone could whip up a decent button. Whether you make it animated is up to you. I’d just hate to make something myself that looked like complete ass and have it reflect poorly on your site here.
I’m still pretty far off in unveiling the revamped site, so there’d be no huge rush on the button.
Otherwise, of course I’d link to TCL at appropriate other locations of the site, wherever we may share files or info with one another, chiefly. We could also formally announce our working together as well, as has been mentioned before. I’m good with all of that.
As for partnering/affiliates, that sounds great to me Purrsia. I’m not sure how fleshed out your plans are, but once you have them set, just let me know and we can work on it together.
Ok, I’m getting close to opening the new site. So that 88x31 button for TCL will be handy about right now. Whenever (and whoever) can manage it, send it on. I’d love to add ya to the button rotation of affiliates
Hi manny. Attached is a button I have that’s the same size as the one I’m requesting. I might make others later, but right now I’m kinda pressed for time as I’m sure you can imagine. The new url, btw, is http://www.thundercatsfans.org (took blackiecats’ advice and found a domain with thundercats in it…even after I bought returntothundera.org…extra domains don’t hurt I guess  ) Eventually, the purrsiathunder.org will cease to be.
If you go to the new url now, though, understand that it’s not finished yet: there’s a lot of broken internal links and pages that need their alignments fixed, in-progress updates, in addition to some last minute style sheet tweaks I haven’t gotten to yet. So I wouldn’t make that link public til I open the site. Thanks!
This year I’m likely going to revamp my Voltron site and have a similar rotation of affiliates with it. If you’d also like to have your button on that site, let me know. Often, fans of one 80s toon will be interested in a site about another. Can’t hurt.
Thanks for making the button Kyle - I appreciate it
Sorry for the delay on getting this to you. I only got the opportunity to sit down with my notebook this afternoon after work.
Anyway, I had a go at a little 88x31 advertisement for your site. I had a bit of a problem, as you are unable to read our sites logo at that scale. Anyway, this is all I could come up with..
Holy thread revival, Batman #2! Just wondering whether anything ever came of these plans? I think an affiliation between Angie’s site and ours would be of enormous benefit, so just wondering whether this ever worked out?
The button is up and has been up for some time - you just may not see it everytime you load the site as each button rotates at random. It changes with every page click or refresh though, so odds are anyone surfing the site for long will see tcl’s button
I never saw Mark’s post before, so to respond to that - yeah, I have moved around a lot. I tend to outgrow site packages quickly. Actually though, this last time I stayed with the same host and package, I just decided that, instead of having the Tcats site, the voltron site, and all those stupid little side sites I have on one server, the two main things (tcats and voltron) needed their own full spaces and urls. So they moved servers. In other words, I have three hosting packages at siteground now instead of one - 1 for tcats, 1 for voltron and 1 for all the miscellaneous stuff. I may let the miscellaneous one expire, depending on finances when it comes around to renewal time - though the thunderwiki is on it now so…we’ll have to see.
I should never outgrow the package for space and bandwidth (even as the tcats site clears 3+ gigs worth of stuff), so short of siteground going belly up I should be with this host a long, long time. Definitely the one I’m happiest with out of all the ones I had tried - and there were many!
btw, I since decided to keep purrsiathunder.org and park it with the new url - that way I’m not losing traffic from sites that can’t or don’t update their links. I’m a little domain happy over there
