Hi guys,

I know I haven’t really been participating in the discussions lately, but starting tomorrow, I’ll be looking at everything and start catching up on some stuff.

I’m not sure what exactly I will be doing now that it looks like things are being taken care of by everyone else, but the 1 year anniversary redesign will be my main priority.

I also noticed while I was looking at the site via FTP that there were pages and folders not in the right place. I really would like to keep everything organized when it comes to the main directory.

I’ll be sending PMs to individuals regarding certain topics to help me figure out what else needs to be done.

I think it is best for all the active team members to have a meeting to see where the redesing is going, I have no clue what the Toy Section looks like…Thanks

Confused guys…

I have no idea either about the redesigned look of the Toy section until it’s done.

I’ve only seen the re-design used by Kyle and Chris in their cartoon section pages.

I don’t know what going on here, so perhaps someone can fill me in?

As far as I am aware its the same, but as I mentioned to Chris and Manny C, some new graphics have been used by Manny, but I have not been shown them yet?

But I think it is the same as the one we all approved months back…

But if new graphics are used, how can it be the same? I’m confused even more now.

If anyone is interested in helping me make sense of what this is all about I’m on Skype now and will keep Skype open for the next hour or so. If not, then I don’t know what to say.

I swear everytime there is a full moon, there is drama here! :roll:

The design is the same as we all agreed on several months ago, but Jon sent me some new graphics we could use. With a redesign, it’s not as if we just copy and paste the content. We have to improve on things that could work better. Just as Chris and Kyle have been redoing the layout of the Cartoon section, I’ve been testing some different layouts for the other areas as well.

I know we want everything to look the same, but you guys have to understand that with everyone doing HTML and helping out in different areas of the site, there will be different things going on.

I know Kyle will agree with this – everyone has different styles of doing the pages (for example, Kyle does it by coding, I do it with Dreamweaver and templates, etc), and unless we can all agree with one way to update pages, it’s going to be difficult to get everything the same.

When Kyle and I were working on the redesign, we were having difficulties having scripts work the correct way with our different styles. We did get a template that worked on both sides, but it took a few days to do the general template. What more with all the unique scripts working in different areas (flash, and java scripts).

If everyone is okay with different things going on in different areas of the site, then that’s cool.

I’m just bringing up some concerns on my part that’s all. :slight_smile: I actually had a thread two months ago asking some questions regarding all of this, but I didn’t really get a response, so I just continued doing what I was doing.

A meeting would be cool, but the only times I’m available are (usually) on the weekends or anytime before 2:30PM PST. I already know from trying to chat with MannyC that our schedules conflict, so I’m not sure if I would be able to do one during the weekdays.

Throw out some date and times and may be we can go from there. :slight_smile:

So to sum up, me and MannyC are in the wrong here for creating new pages for the toy section? They don’t fit in with the re-design or the way pages load?

Advance apologies if I’m off the mark here, but according to my calculations other than yourself and Kyle, only 2 others have made html pages. But then I wasn’t the greatest at maths so could be wrong…

It’s amazing that nobody thought to contact me about these issues and concerns. Well feel free to carry on discussing it amongst yourselves via pm as I’m sure you will get it all worked out eventually :slight_smile:

Then why is MannC deleting his previous posts and then asking me what going on as if I know something he doesn’t?

Just for the record everyone, the last time I spoke to MannyF was to ask him if I could host the Orko vase clip from He-man on the site. I’ve had no contact with him since.

If anyone wants to talk to me you know how to contact me. I’m done with this thread.

MannyC deleted a post concerning me contacting Matt. LOL. :wink: It had nothing to do with the redesign stuff. It was about me giving Matt access to FTP and email information, that’s all Neil. I contacted Matt, so I assumed that’s why he deleted the post.

As for you and MannyC doing the HTML, that’s fine. It’s not that you’re doing it wrong, there is no way to do HTML wrong as long as it’s working. It’s just when one person is doing templates and the template is modified, all the pages that work with that template will no longer work.

I hope you’re not upset Neil. All I did was send out 3 PMs – one to Kyle about asking him if he was doing the Comic section redesign, one to Matt welcoming him with the information needed to get to the backend of the site, and to Chris, regarding the Comics section.

I didn’t mean to cause drama, and if I am, I’m sorry. All I wanted to do was figure out what was going on…we’re all on different pages. :frowning:

Just about to sign off for the night as I’m really knackered and have already nodded off to sleep once, LOL! Just to say that, whilst I can’t completely guarantee that nothing will come up between now and and then, as it stands at the present time I’m completely free for Tuesday evening at the time suggested (unfortunately as ever I’m unable to do a Wednesday evening, at least not until very, very late). :slight_smile:

I agree that a team meeting is needed - I can see a lot of confusion and people getting stressed out and I think there are things that need ironing out. I have little involvement with the HTML side of things, although I’ve made a tentative start (and as a side note, I was going to ask if I could have access to the main site directories, as Kyle has set me up with means to create pages from scratch for the Cartoon Section, which would save him time uploading and me time having to ask him to upload them for me) - however, if I may stick my neck out, I think what people here are getting concerned about are things like talk of new graphics being added to pages that other team members have no idea what they look like, created by someone (Jon) who is not technically a member of the team and has never interacted with any of us, despite at one point having team member status. It’s not that anything here is technically wrong but I can see it being unsettling - so, as more of an observer I would say that a team meeting is 100% in order here. :slight_smile:

We definately need a team meeting I think.

It seems a weekday isn’t gonna work, so it has to be saturday or possibly sunday. Preferrably the sooner the better.

Can everyone state their desired time for saturday and sunday please?

and yes, this is very important, so I suggest everyone attends if possible.

Seriously, I don’t want to cause drama. I just don’t know where I stand anymore though, that’s all. Chris and Kyle are a team, MannyC and Neil are a team…Matt, Neil, and MannyC are going to do the Merchandise section (if I gathered the information correctly), I don’t really know what I’m suppose to do. Everyone is teaming up with someone, I just feel left out.

Please just tell me straight up if I’m saying something wrong. If you guys want me to just keep the same layout and just put the new design, I’ll do that.

I’m out Sunday evening until about midnight UK time, so Saturday would definitely suit me the best - at the present time I can be reasonably flexible on timings that day, too! :slight_smile:

Heh, now I think I’m giving you the wrong impression! :wink: It’s not the issue of changing the graphics per se - we might all look at them and love them! :slight_smile: I may be way off the mark (as usual!), but I think what’s concerning people is talk of graphics being changed when they don’t even know what the replacements look like. Myself I’m quite curious as to which graphics we’re actually talking about. :slight_smile:

If I’m being totally honest with you, my friend, I think that that’s something that’s been bourne out of your initial resignation from the site - which is completely cool, but I think the teams that you see have been forged out of necessity to keep the site ticking over. I feel bad at the thought of you feeling left out. :frowning:

Don’t apologise - I think what’s needed here is a team meeting to hammer out these issues. I’ve been thinking for a while that with your forthcoming return, Matt’s addition to the team, and other changes in circumstances for various team members that we could do to have a meeting to discuss and potentially reassess who’s doing what and what our immediate goals are. So, it’s not necessarily a bad thing that there are issues here that need discussing. I’m sure things will work out - we just need to work them out! :slight_smile:

There is nothing here that cannot be sorted out at a team meeting methinks. But in the mean time don’t go ‘banning’ yourself from the site :smiley: (if you seen the latest over at EOT.net you’ll get the joke)

What I would ask (if at all possible) is that you make a toy section page in the new design if you haven’t already to show everyone at the team meeting. Everything else I’d prefer to discuss in real time than keep going round in circles in this thread.

That was the original plan Neil. I was going to put up a preview just like I did before with everything else. :slight_smile: If you guys didn’t like it, I wasn’t going to use it. I always asked the team’s opinion before I go ahead and make it public. I’ve never done it any other way. :wink:

But just so that there isn’t anymore problems, I think I’ll just stick with what we have now.
