I got this a long time ago, maybe in 2000. Its a gorgeous piece and have never seen one in better condition. I was thinking about sending it to AFA one day but I’d like to know what you think. There is a light vein at the top where the punch hole is (above the E in Thundercats) and comes down to the top of the bubble. The bottom right had a sticker with very little residue if any. I removed it when I first got it revealing some light creases. Other then those two its pretty much dead mint. It glossy with no wear or dents to the bubble. I’d appreciate any comments you guys…and gals have, and thanks for taking a look. I also have a bunch of other toys for sale if anyone is interested.

But that is one fine piece you have right there Lion-o I also have a Lion-o/Snarf combo in immaculate condition too and it’s one of my favourite pieces (mainly because it’s in such as good condition)
This one has the orange hair. I don’t know which is the rarer one anymore. At first it was the orang, then the red? I’m just glad to have this one because it has Snarf in scale. I never liked the Snarf action figure. Hey send me a pic of your LionO so I could get giddy like a school girl
Upon looking at the picture I think though that it is in a very nice condition, matter of fact if I were to compare it to the example I had of a Bengali AFA 80 and the Stinger AFA 80 I had this Lion-O would easily score an 80 with even a possibility of being an 85. If i were to give it sub-grades I would grade it based on the picture Figure-85, Card-85, Bubble-80. Overall easily an 80 in my book. AFA is a nice service but I use it mainly to get the custom case and not for the grading, the grading in my book is just an added bonus. If you intend to keep it get it graded to keep it protected. Very nice piece indeed. I’m not quite sure which of the versions is rarer but I have seen more versions of the orange haired Lion-O with Snarf than its red haired counterpart. One bit of information that you may not have known is that the one you have was actually made first. The way I know this is that the early releases ONLY came with the hook and not the J hook. If you look at my collection pictures you can see the hook differences, one looks like a J and the other one doesn’t. Hope this helps
honestly I dont know anymore about AFA. The piece is very nice and I would case it to protect it but not with AFA. I only say this as I am starting to doubt there credibility, and with this I am debating selling my graded Thundercats and other AFA stuff. I would def get a case of some kind for it maybe from oscars cases (see the thread I started about acrylic cases). Anyway thats my two cents, Manny knows more about this than I do.

ive seen alot of afa thundercats and many more vintage starwars afa graded figures and playsets, the grading is so eratic i would never send my stuff to them… but i guess its up to you.
I agree, I think AFA doesn’t always make sense. I saw some of their Transformers at a convention and their grades didn’t match the wear and creasing some of their boxes had. I do admit though that their casing is great but I hate the fact that you’ll never be able to touch the toy again…unless you break the case.
For those interested AFA now has a population report for Thundercats they have graded. There is 1 Luna Lasher Mumm-Ra and 1 Thunderwings Lion_O graded, both 75’s. I’m contacting AFA to utilize the reports and showcase tehm on our toys section so keep your eyes peeled for more news
