I love the short hair! I do remember years ago when she had long hair but the shorter hair looks so much better! Oh wait, after looking closely, she has her hair pulled back in a braided tail.
I don’t have a problem with her right arm, the proportions are perfect, and the way it’s attached to the shoulder, you have the linear proportions just right. It looks natural…not forced or overdone. What I mean is the right shoulder is up while the right hip is angled lower with the left side up. An artist would understand what I’m getting at. Basically, it’s how you walk…right shoulder up, left hip up, left shoulder up, right hip up.
About the right foot, it should have been angled very slightly outwards and give more definition to the outline of the toes. Otherwise, you did a great job sketching it, feet, as well as hands are difficult to sketch.
One thing I have noticed was the length of the right arm…if you would have lowered the right hand’s middle finger to the hip, it goes halfway to the thigh,…that is very hard to do, it took me years to master that.
You did a good job at shading too. You have the light source from the left of the picture and you didn’t over do it with the shading, you kept it subtle. I’ve seen fanart where the artist goes overboard with the shading to the point you don’t know which direction the sun is coming from and if they did, it’s way too dark.
One thing I have noticed, and I do it all of the time too, is the eyes. It’s hard to notice how it’s off a bit unless you are looking at someone else’s work or if you look at your own work days or weeks later. The one eye is slightly above the other, you can look at my own art, I do it all of the time. One thing that helps me notice my own work is when I reverse it on the computer, then I really see where I need to correct. It’s very much like writing…my professor said yesterday that his best professor was a great proof-reader because he would read backwards, catching all spelling and grammatical errors.
I want to get back into art and if I was to scan some of my pics, could you please look over them and tell me where I could do better. I would really love an in-depth analysis on it. I have noticed when I reverse my artwork on the computer, I can see I lean towards the right because I’m right-handed.
I am very impressed with this picture you drew, you came a long way from the art I’ve seen you do years ago.
I also need to add is the fact you gave a very subtle line for the abdomen, it’s not over done, it shows suppleness and femininity. You did it just right. Males need more definition, not females.
