Hello, everyone. My name’s Jen and “Thundercats” holds a special place in my heart. This was my absolute favorite cartoon as a child.
Cheetara was my favorite T-cat because not only was she such an unusually positive female role model in the 1980s (I particualrly loved how her intuition was valued), but I also identified with her a lot as a kid. Like her, I was surrounded primarily by all-male friends who, even though they recognized I was a girl, never treated me any differently because of it and accepted me and my traits (whether “feminine” or not) fully. Cheetara inspired me to feel good about myself, about my individuality and about not being a “girlie” girl.
