So as of now, we have no confirmation of a second season. As heartbreaking as this is, we should not give up hope for a second season of this incredible show being created in the future. However, if it is to be cancelled, what do you think should happen in order to continue the story?
My first choice is to make a comic book that follows right after what happens in season 1. It will literally take the place of another season. It will continue on with them finding the fourth stone and defeating Mumm-Ra for good. Dan Norton has shown a ridiculous amount of dedication to making the ThunderCats name continue on, and he has been involved in comics for many years now, so this is a very definite possibility.
This is much less probable of a possibility, but perhaps they could make the episodes and release them straight to DVD. I guess it wouldn’t make too much of a profit, but at least they could finish out the story instead of leaving us hanging with 3/4 stones.
I am also not against this show possibly moving to Toonami. I don’t know how it would do on there nor how they would get it on there, but you never know. CN obviously does not understand a good show when they see one and I think if any show on Toonami was on CN it would be treated just like ThunderCats and Youbg Justice because all they care about is their stupid shows.
I think a comic is the most viable option. When it comes to straight to DVD, if not enough people buy along the way, the production might get halted in it’s tracks. The same could apply to comics, but, because they’re so much cheaper, people are more likely to buy them. Granted though, we know they’d get scanned and uploaded…happens with every single comic, and it’s impossible to stop. The one thing I do like about the Toonami idea, is that they’d be able to kick the darker and edgier “up to 11”, but I suppose I’d feel bad for the younger fans that would get screwed by their parents…
I would prefer a straight to DVD release or a move to Toonami or a different channel altogether to anything else, but depending on who’s doing the art and the writing A comicbook would work. I don’t know if Dan would draw a comic (as much as I would love him to), because I think he’s pretty much done with that part of his career now and he’s working for WB animation now (a comic would be a full time job). Though the UK ThunderCats artist, Cosmo White, seems to be pretty darn good. Maybe it could continue in the magazine (and those of us not in the UK can just hope like crazy that it gets imported).
I don’t really care what we get if the series isn’t renewed. Just let me know how the series would have ended and I’ll be fine. A comic would be awesome, but a simple paragraph outlining the direction of the show would suffice.
I’m still sticking to the comics. I really enjoy comic books. Of course I’d rather have a second season but especially if Dan Norton works on it, it would be s great comic.
Yes but could we at least be a little realistic? He has a full time job already, and has worked on comics before and now when he is doing animation why would he wanna go back? He’s got his hands full right now, so if a comic would surface someone else would have to do it.
Maybe if we don’t get any sort of continuation, then some of us should just do it ourselves, as like a fan made web comic. It’s not really much compared to something official, but it would be better than nothing.
