This is my first posting. My name is Nate and I’ve loved ThunderCats since I was a kid. I used to watch ThunderCats and then Masters of the Universe back to back every weekday on one of the two TV stations that we had at the time. I also collected the figures and comics as well, and continue to in the present day.
I was going through some old Sears catalogs that we have stored and I came across this page filled with ThunderCats toys. It’s one of my favorite ThunderCats images and it brings back alot of great memories. Enjoy it!
Hey Nate very cool to say the least. We will be having a section on catalogs and it would be cool to display this on the site. This is so weird! I’ve just tracked down scans of a page from a catalogue by UK catalogue shop called Argos. That too is from their catalogue dated 1986 as well. I can’t believe the timing here!
So can you guys explain to me what Sears is? Is it a home shopping catalogue, a catalogue shop (like our Argos) or simply just a catalogue/flier that the Sears stores sent out during the christmas period?
This page would certainly make an excellent USA retail article to mirror the one I wrote last night on Thundercats toys at UK retail!

I love seeing this kind of thing, so if anyone else has old catalogue pages of Thundercats I’d love to see them!
Back to the catalogue scan, anyone else notice Wilykat and Wilykit pictured with the prototype boards! (eek! the TCL team will understand that eek, lol!) Just wonder if these were changed at the very last minute because I’m surprised to see prototypes pictured in a retail catalogue. Also notice the Mutant attack vehicle to Cats Lair is the same colour as the prototype as well.
Very cool stuff there for sure. Out of interest is there another page for pricing and descriptions of each item?

Yep, I use to own that. It’s a great shot. And there were 2 pages if I remember correctly.

Sears is a department store like JC Penny. Didn’t really carry toys in the retail outlets (as far as I can remember, hey 86 I was 2 years old lol) like JC. Penny. But for X-mas they would put out their “Wishbooks” (huge catalogues). Alot of great toy lines are featured in that '86 book. It had a great He-Man page aswell showing off the Eternia playset and what not.

I never seen the '85 cat. But there might have been a tiny section in the 87 (again don’t hold me to it). I dont remember what one it was, but one of the catalogs featured a Watch maybe, and the Play Tent, Pajamas, and a set of Marvel Comics and the picture showed issue 4 of the T-Cats comic I think.
Wow! That was some serious nostalgia, there! I do remember that page very well, and I remember drooling over it so much that it got wet and crumbled. (lol - just kidding, but seriously, my family didn’t have alot of money, so I couldn’t really get much…)
Cool scan, you gotta love it! I just picked up 8 Sears Chrstmas Catalogs from the 1980s off Ebay and will be adding scans of the figure sections of my site as soon as i get them in. Manny, LMK if you want a copy of any Thundercats ones to display on this site.

Manny is offline at the moment as he’s in the process of moving and probably won’t be online for another fortnight. However I can speak on his behalf and say we’d love to get scans of all the Thundercats appearances in the Sears catalogues!
Hey I’mo not sure if this helps or is redundant but I just bought a catalog in the mail so I can pinpoint a little of where the cats appeared. In the 1987 August 31 “Toys” Sears catalog this is what it has, which two pages is exactly like the wishbook for that year;
OK guys, I just sent Blackicats hi-res scans of any Thundercats materials in the 1986 and 1987 Sears catalogs. I think somehow I might have missed the pic of the sword of omens and liono mask shown above, I will have to find the pages its on and scan it in (don’t remember if I did or not).
