SDCC Exclusive Figure

Mattel LOL!

Sometimes I wonder if we really are getting worked up (unnecessarily). The MOTUC figures have had over a decade worth of momentum contributing to the hype. The reason Filmation Skeletor sold out in 3 minutes is because He-man collectors are the most hardcore of all collectors. Even though, on paper, Thundercats is a winning formula franchise, it is still regarded as niche due to preexisting mediocre marketing. We can blame Bandai. We can blame Cartoon Network.

I was expecting 8" Lion-O and Tygra Classics to sell like hotcakes …they never did. On the flip side, it is possible for Mattel to underproduce the Kittens (because Mattel logic), and we can have a situation that resembles that of when 6" Collectors Tygra was difficult to acquire. Additionally, depending on word-of-mouth, MOTUC collectors may view the new Thundercats line as an extension of the He-man universe, and possibly derive some solace at the end of the MOTUC line.

And actually the figure of wilykat is wrong too. The right shoulder should be brown. http://pop-critica.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/636009127697414959-Thundercats-1024x768.jpg

Yeah I saw someone on the Matty forum spotted that too. Hopefully that’s fixed for release.

At this late of a stage I doubt it. If we believe certain information Toyguru released during MOTUC these figure will have already been in production a long time and be ready for MOTUC.
Well done Mattel.
Of course this will give Mattel the chance to show how much they care fore their fans by re-releasing another Kit and Kat in the correct colour scheme. Not that they want the money, they just want to please the fans.

Yeah there’s no way this is being fixed a month out from SDCC.

But we haven’t saw the actual figures yet. All the matel pictures they posted are labeled as “Concept” - and didn’t even post a picture of the figures themselves - the pic doing the rounds is from a USA Today article. Lets just wait and see what the final product looks like.

Man I hope this forum doesn’t turn into one giant freakout fest.

i don’t think it is going down the road of being a freak out fest . people just want them to be done rite . clothes not being the rite colour is lazy on mattels behalf if they are the final product . i think the finer details will be put rite but i could be wrong .

I don’t think the shoulder colour is that big of a deal to be honest and I doubt there will be another release of the Thunderkittens (not when there are so many characters to get to with limited slots)

I think the SDCC exclusive will be relatively easy to buy from MattyCollector in early August. Not saying it won’t sell out, but I do think collectors who log on, on sales day won’t have a problem. If you put it off buying for another day or forget about the sale, well prepare to be disappointed.

This is a common issue from Mattel and it happened with several MOTUC figures and that means as the others, future release of these figures (3-4 moths) will come out with the right color schemes or body part modifications.

If that is the case and I have to drop another $60 +(realistically more in the $100 range unless lucky) around the time of NYCC (my best guess), just to get his sleeve painted brown… i will not be a very happy subscriber/fan of Mattel.

I kind of agree with Blackiecats. With so limited slots, I doubt they will do a second release…but again it’s Mattel so you never know.

I bet they will going to re release them maybe in a year like they did with He-Man MOTUC…
And maybe before that time, because of the corrections they will want to make to the figures so collectors/fans would be happy about it.

I got my Skeletor via mail yesterday and I have not complaints about it. He looks amazing.

Here is a web site with a good review of Skeletor.

I still think the arms look too short.

Got my Filmation Skeletor today and he’s amazing. Don’t know where you’re getting this short arm thing? They are the same length as all the other classics figures. Mattel, like all other toy company’s have their faults of course. I will say though that if this Fimation line is any indication than the Thundercats are going to be great. So far He-Man, Trap-jaw and Skeletor have been home runs for me.

The forearms are too short. They are slightly shorter than previous figures. Same as Filmation He-Man.

Yeah, too bad they are not shorter. You can hate on Mattel all you want but don’t just make stuff up. Especially when you don’t have the figure in hand to compare it. Filmation Skeletor and He-Man are little bit taller than the classics counterparts so a side by side would look like the arms are slightly shorter but it’s because of the height difference. Just like Filmation trap jaw having “longer” arms than the classics version. He’s just shorter than the classics version.
