Having a Grune and Jaga 2 pack would certainly speed things up. Perhaps, that’s why they were withheld in the first place. And, they could repeat this next year with Cheetara and Tygra as part of the 2017 sub and a Wiley Kit and Kat 2 pack (+ Snarf?) for SDCC.

BBTS will likely have this for $80 or perhaps even $90. It’s too much for two figures, but I can’t risk waiting for the general release on Matty, have it get sold out and then having to rely on eBay with on-going prices.

If no early subscriber access for T-Cats subscribers, I am pre-ordering from BBTS as well. Though it usually gets sold out pretty quickly there too, due to the limited quantity they manage to acquire.

How does BBTS work? If you preorder from BBTS, do you have to pick them up in person from SDCC?

If you pre-order from BBTS, it’s regular online purchase. You don’t pick them up at SDCC, it will be shipped to you like their other orders.

Unless I am mistaken they actually don’t list it for pre-order until they have their quantity secured after SDCC. So you are basically paying a premium fixed price to them for a limited edition, instead of higher prices on eBay.

They are up there with eBay scalpers in my book. $70 for mummy Mumm-Ra, and $55 for Lion-O/ Panthro. They are making people pay through the nose, they are just doing it legit since they don’t have to use eBay and pay their fees too. At least with these figures though, everybody had a window to get them at the cheap price if they wanted.

It’s gonna be really crap to be competing with BBTS, scalpers, and everyone else who actually wants the figures for themselves, on the Matty website, scrambling for whatever SDCC stock they have left. Sounds like it could be Back to the Future Day all over again.

I really hope they do something for those with subs. These figures look amazing and who wants to have a lineup without the kittens in it? Surely Matty knows the situation they will be putting some of their suscribers in. Gonna be pretty lame if you have the single ship option, and 5 months before you see any of your figures you know you will never have the core team.

Exactly right bro. I’ll be pretty bitter about it if I cant manage to get one just because I live overseas and can’t attend these conventions.
This “chase” figure I been reading about here seems to be another to cause stress about getting.

That’s not true. When you pick up the item (s) you have to present ID and the credit card originally used on MattyCollector to buy the exclusive. Somebody CANNOT pick up YOUR purchase up for you. It has to be the actual person who paid for the items.

Matty usually puts the exclusives up for sale anyway around the end of July - early August for those who can’t attend the show in person

I was more thinking along the lines of pairing up with a buddy in the US kind of scenario … sorry about that then

Making the Kittens is an od choice. Especially since they are core team members. Surely a variant of a character would have bene a better choice.

This is my first sub and I really want to do things right. I need the Kittens as I was hoping for them during the Bandai fiasco. I still don’t know when we are supposed to register for the 2017 sub. I thought it was an auto-subscription but apparently it is not. Matty’s Voltron and Filmation subs were interesting but I never took the plunge.

If Mattel continues at this rate, we will have the core team by 2017 with Lynxo and Bengali in 2018.

Be thankful you avoided the Voltron sub. The Voltron toy was a complete mess. All it had going for it was size. All you could do with it was pose on the shelf and be done with it. It wasn’t designed to be played with or even posed a lot.

Here is a closer look. I think they look great and it was worth the wait.

Core characters released in a box set could also mean they would be releasing them individually with different accessories. But if fans want the hoverboards, SDCC set is the only way to get it.

I’m thinking that since these are such core characters, Mattel probably made more of them than they did the Energy Zoids from MOTU last year. I personally have never had an issue getting any of the MOTU exclusives when they went on sale on the Matty site after SDCC. I will follow up that statement with the fact that I did NOT attempt to buy the Zoids last year.

I guess it kind of makes sense to go with core characters instead of a variant for SDCC. They are essential, that way it forces more people to pick them up. I think it was a smart move. I also think they are totally nailing the sculpts to the cartoon. I cannot wait to see more!!!

We don’t know any details on that right now…but I would have to believe that Matty wouldn’t completely screw out Thundercats subscribers and not let them get the Thunderkittens somehow. I know…some people are going to say “well, that’s Matty for you”. But seriously, to not allow ThunderSubbers to get these, would kill the line before it even starts. they HAVE to know this.
