original TMNT
I belive your think of the tmnt of the late 80’s early 90’s in memary the original was violent as hell that saying something with todays standers.
I don’t really know what you mean, but I find the remakes of TMNT are excellently done and embrace all he aspects that made the fans love the original, which I do not think the new series Thundercats achieved. Instead they seemed to get rid of all the fun aspects that we loved about the original series.
The fun aspects are definitely there in the new TMNT, and I love the new one on Nick (even though I had my doubts at first). I think it is refreshing to see a new take on any show, like ThunderCats, that tries to do something different. I think the NS had something the OS didn’t, and that for me was the dynamic aspects of it. The fact that things can change and it’s not always set in stone that the cats will win is what kept me watching. The exact opposite of this turned me away from the OS. And while I do have to mention that it is a fun, cheesy show, it lacked in the fact that it was highly formulaic and predictable, even for a kids’ show. I can honestly say a lot of the “fun” aspects are better off gone in my taste, and I don’t think I would even be a ThunderCats fan if it was just the same show slightly changed.
Hammy I do agree with you about how formulaic the original series was. However when I say ‘fun’ I mean a lot of the characters missing from the new series, such as Snowman and the Berserkers etc, I just found the new seris villians so bland in comparison.
Also again as we have said before everne had a different audience in mind. The new series characters were just to mature/ bland to appeal to young kids.
After Marisha’s huge campaign to Save the Cats which, gathered many signs and didn’t change anything…I DON’T THINK there is any point in this petition.Sorry
I must say regardless of the NS faults, I must say I am enjoying it on Channel 5. Yes its not what I thought it would be and it is a drastic change but, it is nice seeing Thundercat on tv and some of the episodes are very good.
I just got the NS on DVD, re-watched it, and I still stand by it. It is a great reboot of a series I loved and done with great effort, clever ideas, and a lot of love.
I will say this though, and it is something I didn’t realize when I watched the series the first time. I just got into Avatar (the series). I had never seen it before and I finished watching the series about two months ago. Rewatching the NS T-Cats…I kind of feel like the show borrowed a little too much from Avatar in some respects. I mean Snarf is basically Momo in this show, right? And the story structure is VERY similar. Friends go on a worldwide quest to collect items/learn skills that will help them defeat the big baddy while uniting all the different inhabitants for the common goal.
I dunno. Maybe some people saw the NS as being too similar to Avatar.
I still want a conclusion to this series. It is too good for us to be left hanging like that and there is plenty of room to do more. When I compare this show to all the other 80s toons reboots, I’d say it is definitely better than He-Man 2K, almost every new Transformers show to come out, & pretty much every GI Joe except for Resolute. And it is at least on par with the 2003 TMNT when that show was at its best (Seasons 1-3).
NS was a lot like Avatar and as I have said, the NS tried being like to many different shows instead of embracing what OS Thundercats was. NS had some great ideas but they would have worked better in a second season after a more formulaic first season to establish all the characters and have all the main characters from the start.
I don’t believe they would really have to make a replica of the OS to be successful. I think the route they took as well as uncontrollable circumstances did lead to its demise, though. Maybe if they would have kept a little more influence from the OS it would have helped. And I do believe in your second statement about the first season thing, but I wouldn’t want it to be “formulaic”, per say. Maybe just more foundation-building before they actually set out to get the stones. They could have done it like Young Justice, where the first season (especially the first half) was them really building a solid foundation and setting while also providing some good story development and then really branching out and exploring new settings, characters, and stories with the second season. I don’t know, but that’s my opinion.
Would have been cool if the show opens like it did with Jaga doing the “talk” about Mumm-Ra and some Lion who will save them all, but then instead of having the episode play right before Thunderas demise. Why not have it like 1-2 years before and instead of having flashbacks of Lion-O and the others. The story could start there, and the first season would end with the now first seasons first episode. The search for the stones would be the second seasons story.

Not as formulaic as the OS or other 80’s shows but like TMNT 2012 where you get introduced to all the major characters and they have some stand alone episodes with a bit of an over arching story leading to the next episode or hinting at the main ‘big’ upcoming plot.
