A samoflange is a thingamabobber, a widget, a nonsense part made up for the Thundertank that was mentioned in a single episode of TOS. It was later made infamous in the Thundercats outtakes:

“WTF is a Samoflange?!”

Just thought someone might actually know what it is.
They mentioned it in episode 5 of the new series and I remember it from the old series so Just thought I’d ask.

I wonder if the new cast gave some colorful outtakes when they had to say those lines as a joke to the old outtakes.

Now we at least know that a samoflange is something you can stand on without noticing it. Maybe it’s just a really fancy car floor mat?

I think I heard a sort of metallic springy sound when Lion-O stepped off of it, so I doubt it’s a floor mat.

I don’t think it ever was meant to be something in particular though, just part of the tank.

Oooo, I never noticed that before! Now that I re-watched it, I heard all sorts of noises. I guess Lion-O doesn’t pay much attention to what’s going on beneath his feet.

There is probably at least one under the hood of the T tank. Check the transmission.

Because I had not much to do today, I flitted around the internet, and saw this article, and perhaps a source for the word “Samo”. After reading this article, we could define a Samoflange as a “same old sh*t” flange.
