There’s just no pleasing some people. 
Amen Tygra. I’m glad you and I at least appreciate the reboot and don’t rake the new show over the coals for not being a pure homage to the OS. 
It appears the majority of the people here are enjoying the new series. The few that don’t just have unrealistic expectations or are caught up with comparing it to the old series. Oh well.
I gave it an 8. I was pleasantly surprised by the NS. In fact I would say that I have grown to enjoy it as much as the OS. There are positives and negatives to both, but I choose to look at the positive. I am very happy that they decided to do the reboot and that they did an admirable job.
I gave it a 9. I think things are starting to get really interesting now. My opinion is they’ve done a great job of reinventing the show without spoiling it for the original fans. Let’s face it they’ve had a tough job because if they’d have kept it too close to the original we’d be moaning they’d done a copy cat and not been inventive enough. If they’d have completely changed everything we’d be complaining they’d ruined it. I’m happy, with only a few below par episodes so far. I loved the episode featuring Leo and armour of Omens. I’ve also loved the last 3.
I think the observations of those of us who see the show as a weekly fight club are as valid as any. I think the fact that the show does not know to which audience it is playing to is also part of the problem. Hence, no balance. How many preteen/young teen boys are watching is anybody’s guess. The show overall clearly does not give a hoot about female characters, perspective or viewers. Not one script has been written by a woman.
There was much they could not do with the OS as it was skewed younger. However, the story ideas come from action and character, not just action alone. The NS shows fly by because there is too much action in the content.
If you take a stopwatch and time each episode to date for dialogue vs action, you will begin to understand just how little talking actually goes on.

Children, which explains the action. The writers are trying to add something for the older fans as well, yet people still complain.
As for there not being an episode written by a female…maybe there isn’t one on staff? Why complain about something that probably means nothing? :rolleyes:

Cut it out, both you and Robear-Coll, you’re both starting to become rude. You don’t have to agree with other peoples opinions but you do need to respect them as much as you want them to respect you having a differnet opinion. So cut out the insults of other board members now.
I didn’t insult anyone. I was merely discussing why some people would give the series low scores.
If I were to be rude to someone or tell someone that their opinion is wrong then I could see your problem. Discussing why some people aren’t too keen on the series is just something that is going to happen in a thread like this.

I don’t believe I’ve insulted anyone, in fact i think I prefaced most of my comments with “no offense”. I’m just stating my opinion as are you, which I think is fair and valid.

I’m with them this time, we don’t insult people by having our opinion and just ask you guys about yours. You are OF COURSE allowed to think what ever you want, but are we rude by asking and talking about why? Come on, no need to sink that low. Don’t try be like Lion-O this last episode

I think the first season was very well done, I gave it a 8.
Compared to the classic version there was a lot more depth and creativity to it.
I’m a little confused why the season only has 13 episodes. Strange number. The last episode sure enough didn’t feel like a season ending. No cliffhangers or such.
Considering that women created the original Thundercat fan boards and mostly women wrote the fan fiction that kept the series on radar for many years, it sends a negative message that not one writer in the NS has been female; also that the female characters are given the short shrift overall. It explains everything. I am much reminded of the Little Rascals and the He-Man Women Haters Club.
Read Hear the Roar and you will also see how, were it not for a woman, there wold have been no Cheetara in the original series.
So, it means a lot, not nothing, and I will keep complaining about the lack of female involvement in the NS.

I’m sorry, but people writing fanfic has not kept this series on anyones radar (except for the fanfic writers themselves, obvously). Fanfic writers are a very small percentage of most fanbases and to suggest that Thundercats would have fallen into obscurity without them is just silly. Hollywood is completely devoid of new ideas and are willing to reboot anything for an easy dollar. I can guarantee you that someone at WB didn’t say “Hey, let’s reboot Thundercats! I read a great fanfic yesterday!”. It just doesn’t happen.
You are just looking for something to complain about with there not being a female writer. If there isn’t a female writer on staff or a female freelance writer hasn’t submitted a script there really isn’t anything they can do about that. I sincerely doubt the crew are sexist.
As for female involvement in the show the key demographic is young boys hence the lack of female characters. Thundercats is better off than most shows having strong female characters in Cheetara and Wily Kit. We’re also only 13 episodes in, we may still see the Warrior Maidens.
I’ve been a Thundercats fan as long as I can remember. I haven’t read a single fanfic. the only thing that kept me interested was sheer love for the show.
and just because you don’t see a woman with a writing credit doesn’t mean there aren’t women involved. for example (and this is just one) the casting/voice director, Andrea Romano, is a woman. not to mention the female voice actors.
also we’ve only had 13 episodes. the OS didn’t have a woman with a writing credit until what? episode 62?
I say again, read Hear the Roar. Some things have not yet changed regarding the role of women in the series. And it was women who started the first fan boards. Even beyond fan fiction that counts for something.

Yes, Like Lee Danacher, Andrea Romano has made her mark by choosing excellent voice actors. In Hear the Roar, the fact that there were no female writers until late in the game was also addressed. History seems to be repeating itself.

I’ve been an enormous fan of Thundercats since I was three and haven’t read one fanfic, the fact that I love the show has kept it alive for me personally. And the wildstorm comic books they made which were fun to read.
Absolutely. It does count for something, but you can’t take credit for keeping Thundercats around. The brand would still be around regardless of any fan board or fanfic community.
