I think he’ll still have the Rat’s Eyes. When redesigning characters Dan has usually kept the most “iconic” and memorable parts of their designs, and for Ratar-O the most iconic part was definitely the daggers.
I absolutely agree there is a lot of potential, and I do think they’ll call on some of the OS lore withe regards to his backstory too. The sword of Plundarr back story will be epic!
I’m not so sure about him having his flagship however, as much as I liked it in the OS, the NS has been pretty much planet based (with the obvious flashback exception) and has been much better for it. I think they should keep him as some sort of general or dungeon master instead, head of his own army of rats and just waiting for his chance to get hold of the sword and betray Mumm Ra.

I kept thinking of a nice story the writers have left out. We have seen once the Thundrillium and Thundercats going after it in episode Old Friends but nothing yet of Thundrainum, the dangerous substance which weakens ther Thundercats.In the original many of their enemies,including Grune used it to disempower them. Maybe now, with Rataro’s introduction, he will bring this ‘deadly’ substance to Mumm-ra and have an extra weapon to beat the Cats!
Also, Is Rataro here to stay, besides Grune is gone and needs to be replaced by a competent general, as the right hand of Mumm-Ra instead of S-S-Slythe or just for one-two episode???
Very true. I wonder if they will explain why his daggers have the seemingly random powers they had in the OS though? (where it seemed like ANY object could shoot a lazer beam) I mean what is the rats eye, another power stone?

The ratstar did blow the hell out of the tank in the OS Ho! the movie!
And Thundranium seemed like it was a bit too much of a convenient plot device in the OS, if they do brink it back, I’d like them to make it a bit more science based, give it some sort of ‘reason’ it drains the cats power, maybe some sort of biological weapon Vultureman cooks up from the essence of Thundrillium or something, you know?

I always thought that Thundranium was a knockoff to Superman’s Kryptonite. Somehow, I don’t see that working in this series. Although, I would be surprised if we did get mention of the substance in this week’s episode.

The truth is some very great stories came up at the OS concerning the [/FONT][FONT=Arial]Thundrainum. For instance,the [/FONT][FONT=Arial][SIZE=2][SIZE=2]Fire Rock Mountain where the ‘New’ Tcats where held prisoners was full of [/SIZE][/SIZE]Thundrainum so the Tcats were unable to save them or reach there.So Jaga tells them of the Star of Thundera which [/FONT][FONT=Arial][SIZE=2]cancels the effects of thundrainium. The Saturday episode is close, something like that might occur[/SIZE][/FONT]
Noones saying interesting episodes didn’t occur, it was just one of those convenient plot devices to give the hero a threat to overcome and save the day. Its used all the time in many genres. I just don’t know how it would work really in the NS, I mean how would they explain WHY it makes JUST the cats weak?
How about…Mumm-Ra synthesized it in ancient times with the Cats were still working for him to keep them in check since they pretty much had the run of the ship and weren’t in cages like the other animals and when the Pyramid crashed it scattered across the planet (hence why he didn’t use it in Trials part 2).
Of course that’s just off the top of my head. Just saying they could make it so it isn’t something that’s actually naturally available.
Now THAT’S what I’m talking about! I was going along the lines of a biological weapon developed by Vultureman but that makes a lot of sense too! If they could write it in like that, or something similar, with some logic behind it, then I’d be all for it.

But I’ve been thinking, would they incorporate that into a fire rock mountain type place, maybe with Mumm Ra somehow altering the unique minerals found in the rocks there to create the same effect as his synthesised stuff did on the ship, or would it be a material held in a vial or gas dispersal bomb or something?
I hope Rataro doesn’t have a vehicle because how can the thundertank battle with the big butt on it back. One thing about the os is that the thundertank did a lot of battles.
The “big butt” is detachable.

Man, looks like I was way off in a few predictions! I’ve just seen the preview clips and wow! They’ve stuck really close to the OS character again looks wise! Even down to the gaudy armour. I thought they’d go wit a bit more of a feral look. It looks good though! And he’s huge! Was that a hint of a rats eye dagger I saw too??? He also seems like he has a level of intelligence in this one, which is in keeping with the mutant upgrades. I’m thinking he could be a huge threat to the cats, which is a good thing.
It looks like he’s got his own throne room in mount plundarr too, with his own army of rats, so I wonder what that means? Is mount plundarr his domain only? Will the other mutants use it at any point?
He is huge with a cool rat army and a rat cat at his side.
