Question - Ted Wolf?

In my research for my ‘About the writers’ article, I was reading an interview with Leonard Starr where he states that he thinks Ted Wolf didn’t even exist, and that it was an ‘Allan Smithee’ type name conjured up for royalties purposes.

Upon further research, I came across some info about Ted Wolf, but has he ever really spoken about Thundercats? Are there any interviews with him anywhere? :slight_smile:

Hey Martin, first up, thanks so much for the work on that article, I’m looking forward to reading it! If it’s half as good as the voice actors one you did, it will make a worthy addition to the Cartoon Section! :slight_smile:

Re: Ted Wolf - I don’t believe he’s ever quoted anywhere in relation to ThunderCats, although if you do an Internet search for Janice Wolf (his daughter), I believe she did submit a “Thanks for the tribute”-type quote to a website somewhere… :slight_smile:

Leonard Starr sounds very bitter about his work on ThunderCats, which would possibly explain why he turned me down when I asked if I could conduct an interview with him for publication on this site! :frowning:

I believe it was shortly after that that Ted Wolf himself passed away. There is also a photograph of Ted Wolf that was used on the documentary featurette on ThunderCats Season 1 Volume 2 - I have a couple of screengrabs taken from it! :slight_smile:

He’s sometimes credited as Tobin Wolf. Maybe they went with Ted and that’s why that remark was made about the name change.

Janice Wolf is on one of the DVD extras, as is Starr. But, if it’s any consolation, I also tried to contact Leonard Starr and didn’t get anywhere either.

Back to Ted Wolf, there was an article online from a Hawaiian paper where Janice Wolf talked at length about her father’s initial vision of the Thundercats. The damn thing is offline now, and I’m not sure I saved a copy. Wonder if the way back machine would have it…

Reading the Janice Wolf interview, she seems to imply her father was the one who came up with the whole concept. But Leonard Starr says he was the one who created all the characters and developed the story, using some concept illustrations that had been given to him.
