Question about Macplay Thundercats

It is my understanding that Macplay had the rights for production and distribution in Mexico (similar to Playful in Argentina, or Glasslite in Brazil) My question is, why would a Macplay figure have the Lion’s head logo on it?

According to Blackiecats - this logo delt specifically with the UK market then why would this figure below have both the Macplay logo and the lion’s head logo? and why is the text in English? shouldn’t it be in Spanish?

I think MacPlay just put stickers with their logo on existing cards… Like zeh germans…

The one pictured and the other two i have seen were not stickers…and one of the other two is entirely written in Spanish with “heche en Mexico” on it…this one is English…How Bizarre :eek:

That isn’t a sticker..? Looks off somehow… but …well.. then… I dunno:confused: What country/company has the lion head again?

It is a UK toy, quality and safety mark given to all toys from the late 80’s to present day by the British Toy & Hobby Association. So pretty much every toy (regardless of which toy company released it) will have the lion mark on the packaging.

missing booklet

I found an old stock of macplay toys in a mexico city store in 1994, they had the 22 card back, but they were all missing the booklet that came with the action figures, does anyone know why?

That seems common place if they were produced in the UK for MacPlay (like had been suggested) I know the final series of ThunderCats toys released in the UK (they feature the ‘Toy Options’ address on the card back) didn’t have a catalogue with them either! :wink:

oh i see, i had been buying thundercats in mexico for a very long time and it always struck me to find these basically abandoned at this warehouse. well since you cleared it up, any thoughts on why these uk produced ones ended up in mexico?

Someone’s theory (I forget who said it…) was that the UK toy company produced these for MacPlay to sell in Mexico. So if thats true, they were produced specifically to be sold in Mexico. Makes sense if they were producing the UK cards at the same time (leaving the catalogue out of all of them)

I would need to see the fine print on the back of a card with the UK Lion’s head. My Macplay was produced in Mexico, but it is also in Spanish where these UK Lion’s head examples are in English…

Not sure if this helps but I have a Safari Joe on Toy options card with no catalogue…
It’s been re-sealed but when I bought it the guy said he bought it new without a catalogue. :confused:

I have about 4-5 Toy Options carded figures and non of them have a catalogue :wink:

yeah good shout, just noticed my brown spotted Slythe doesn’t have one either.
