I agree! Like I said, that was part of her being a cipher for much of season one to serve the love triangle mislead.

Though she had a lot of background interactions that showed more of her, all of her interactions with Lion-O – that is most of her major focused on interactions – were her supporting/encouraging Lion-O as king and leader. We never got to see more of that relationship because essentially, there wasn’t anything more to it. He had a crush, which we saw demonstrated often, and she was playing her part as the last cleric and his guide/protector.

She doesn’t cheer Tygra on because she doesn’t relate to him in that same guardian-to-charge way that she does with Lion-O. It’s a much more personal connection so you get to see her joke and tease with him, take little playful jabs at him, and be more forthcoming with her own feelings/concerns, and just generally be more open.

I really, really do not get the insistence that she’s been in some way reduced by her relationship with Tygra when it’s clearly opened her character up.

I was ambivalent about Cheetara’s character after the whole love geometry thing because I felt her behavior in the first part of the series was strange, and her response to Lion-O when he confronted her sounded like a half-truth. I never really bought that Lion-O was just a teenage fool who read her wrongly, I always felt he read her correctly and there was just something she didn’t want to tell him.

I absolutely agree about the need to see more of her background, especially as regards her origins prior to becoming a cleric, but I couldn’t disagree more with this.

As discussed above, Cheetara’s interactions with Lion-O in season one were all focused around encouraging him and supporting him and boosting his confidence as king and leader. All things that were absolutely covered under the purview of her assignment to him.

Not only did she do nothing to indicate romantic interest in him throughout season one (things that COULD and were intended – narratively – to be read that way, but nothing that isn’t explained by the actual reveal of her motivations), but she’s certainly made absolutely no such overtures since she and Tygra got together. She hasn’t even given Lion-O a sideways glance since he confronted her and she explained in “New Alliances.”

I don’t think the show or Cheetara herself could possibly be more clear about the nature of her feelings for Lion-O at this point.

I absolutely agree. I don’t think she ever had any feelings for lion-O that could be called romantic. She sees him as a good friend and leader, but that’s about it. When it comes to love interests, she’s 100% Tygra. There’s no doubt of that.

That’s your take on things, and I don’t subscribe to it. I don’t see this heightened state of clarity regarding her feelings about Lion-O at all. In fact, the only thing I see is a great deal of obscurity. There are still four episodes left, so I don’t understand your rock-solid confidence that your interpretation is the correct and absolute one. A lot can still change or be further explained. Not to mention there might be a whole second season to go even deeper into these issues.

In any event, this topic has been fought over repeatedly in these forums and I’m not getting into it again…we are going to have to agree to disagree on this. Why do you even care what I think? It’s not going to change your mind, and you won’t change my mind, either. Just because I say “Cheetara is ambiguous” does not mean it is truth written in stone, and neither does you saying “Cheetara is unambiguous.”

It’s stuff like this that makes me hesitate to ever post anything about these characters, invariably it inspires someone to feel the need to “correct” me. I don’t feel the same need. I can live with different opinions.

I’m dying to see what happened to her birth parents and maybe a flashback story detailing more of her relationship with Jaga. I think the cleric story would be something fun to expand on. Also, it looks like she has an affinity for magic. Can we get some more on this please.

I definitely agree. I stated this awhile back, but I like how we don’t know much about her. it makes her the mysterious character. I don’t think she’ll be confined to arm candy. She seems too strong-willed (though not even close to Pumyra) to just be Tygra’s parasite.

We agree, and I wasn’t targeting you with that post. It’s something I’ve heard on a few message boards.

Personally, I was hoping she was following him around because of her sixth sense. Maybe she knew something was about to happen and knew Lion-O was going to be smack in the middle of it. I never watched the OS, but wasn’t that the gist of her “Sixth sense”? Something like an intuition? I’ve also read that she was a bit shy about this gift because she didn’t want to be thought of as strange. That would give her a motive to hide it or lie about it. It’s also bring potential for character development.

I still don’t think she’s was ever into Lion-O, that’s just me. She saw something in him, and still feels like he has what it takes to accomplish the objective. Sure their relationship has changed, but I feel it was for the best. Lion-O pre-tirals was in need of that constant hand holding. Here’s more ready now, and so he doesn’t need someone there to tell him he can do it. He’s more confidant and sure now, he KNOWS he can do it. Alas, Cheetara doesnt have to cheer anyone on:thumbsup:

Pumyra is more aggressive, but that doesn’t mean she’s more stong willed. I get the feeling being a cleric takes time and disipline. Not for those of faint or flighty heart.

Dude! It’s a message board. I thought we were just having a conversation. I’m not trying to fight with you.

I don’t see any obscurity in “[My] heart belongs to [Tygra]” and “Jaga told me to watch over you,” in response to Lion-O asking her why she was always watching him/paying attention to him/supporting him, that’s all. I have “rock solid confidence” in my interpretation because I love narrative, I love deconstructing it, my previous readings of this narrative have been accurate, and I think that I understand it. Being confident in my reading isn’t intended as a slight on you, neither is replying to you some sort of attack or even an attempt to convince you of my perspective. It’s just voicing disagreement. Because… it’s a forum. For discussion.

Also, my second comment about Cheetara having secret feelings for Lion-O was a general one about things I’ve seen around the fandom, not directed at you particularly which is why I didn’t say it in my reply to you. Though, if you weren’t saying that she’s being misleading or somehow dishonest about her feelings for Lion-O in asserting that they are entirely platonic, that certainly wasn’t clear in your original post when you said you felt that Lion-O didn’t read her wrong and she told him a half-truth when she explained. Obviously you were talking about something else (?) and I misunderstood.

At any rate, you’ve no obligation to discuss this or anything else with me, but let me be 100% clear again: I have absolutely no interest in fighting with anyone. I’ve noticed that there seem to be hot topics in this fandom that people get extremely combative about, but my posts don’t come from a place of anger. Absolutely. I am so so so curious about her cleric duties (besides watching over wayward princes, at any rate) and I am dying for more of her relationship with Jaga. She seemed very close to him and he’s the character who’s gotten the biggest emotional rises out of her besides Tygra.

Pumyra is definitely more outwardly aggressive and combative than Cheetara, but, of course, Cheetara wasn’t – to the best of our knowledge, anyway – held prisoner and forced to fight for her life for however long.

Cheetara is a very serene person; probably goes along with being a cleric.
